hi all,
once again big apologies for being so absent. sickness has continued to be hideous with some days spent entirely in bed other than the run to the loo!!it's hard to focus on the wonder that is happening inside, when all you want to do is concentrate on breathing so you dont throw up! in the last week though, i;ve had several good days where i'm able to be up and about even if i'm not feeling great...
but, it's lovely to log on and see everyone's news.

joy - am really keeping everything crossed for you and waiting to hear the good news of that first proper sighting. hard to do, but try not to worry too much..

Clare, welcome and congratulations. i'm thrilled to read that your scan went well and that you only have a couple of weeks until the next one.

Suz - fantastic news about twins, i've been hopibg to hear about twin pregnancies and how they are and i think it will be the most amazing experience to bring two gorgeous little beings into the world in a few months. hope you dont get too exhausted!

Mil - great to hear about your scan and so glad all going well. it's incredible isnt it??

Kim - i havent even got to a year of marriage yet but am looking forward to celebrating! glad you enjoyed your day so much.

kel - hope all has gone well for you. will look out for your post later..

as for us, we have just got back from the scan and it was amazing. at 9 weeks and 2/3 days things have moved on so much. there was a distinct head and body and even little arms!! they waved up and down several times during the scan and then went to its face. it feels so real now. a true little person. i think i will fait with excitement at the nuchal as i'm sure the detail will be even more extraordinary. i'm excited for all of you who have this scan to come..it really is wonderful.

hope you're all well and look forward to more news from you soon.

love

Sounds like everything is growing nicely.

Sorry about the miserable sickness though - hope that it soon dissipates. Have you tried ginger, it's supposed to be very helpful in combating sickness.

Good luck and keep updating.

Love and hugs

Hi Suz

I know from all the books ive read, speaking to friends who have had natural pregnancies and discussing on this forum that stretching pains\aches similar to AF pains etc are all normal. I get AF type pains daily, sometimes stronger than others. Still worry occasionally, but have got used to them. Maybe its also double for you because its twins?

Not had the wind problem but I know the hormones play havok with our digestive system! Poor you!!

Take care

Hello! I hope everyone is doing well today. I'm still riding high from seeing the baby on Tuesday. I still can't believe there is something growing inside me.... :D

Suz:
Sorry to hear about the growing pains. I have had so many strange pains since this whole wild ride started. At the beginning I got a lot of growing pains in my stomach but I don't have that as much any more. I do get AF type pains every once in a while. I have had a huge problem with belching. I never really belched before and now I belch like 10 or more times a day. It's kinda a funny. I have also been getting cramps in my left leg and right hip. Really strange.... All your feeling are probably much worse since you have twins.

Let me start out by saying everything is ok and I am currently pregnant with TWINS!!

Well, well, well. . .I had a bit of a scare this week. I just returned home from a two-day visit to the local hospital. Monday afternoon I started to have strong stomach cramping at work and it progressively got worse throughout the day. I called the IVF Clinic doctor and they said to go to the emergency room. So, my husband and I went to the ER Monday evening and it took forever to get anyone to look at me. They even burst a vein in my arm trying to put in an IV so I just said forget about that! I was pissed to say the least. So by the time the ER doc arrived, I no longer had a stomach ache and the pain subsided. Must have been my defense mechanisms kicking in. I decided to leave the ER when they mentioned a "pelvic exam." I didn't agree that this would be the correct thing to do. So we left and I slept for about six hours w/o pain. Got up to excruciating pain on Tuesday morning. We called my OBGYN here in Pittsburgh. He said to get to his office immediately for an ultrasound. We got there and they took a blood sample and walked me back to the ulstrasound room. I threw up numerous times in the sink. How scary to not know what the heck was going on. The girl started the ultrasound and said it was not an ectopic or tubal pregnancy (as I thought it might be). She continued on as I moaned and groaned. She mentioned there were twins. I was slightly affected by it because at the time I was just concerned about how I was going to get through all the pain. It ends up that I have many ovarian cysts and an enlarged ovary. When we arrived home, the doctor phoned and sent me directly to the local hospital and got me a room right away. They needed to get me hydrated with water and continued to shoot me up with pain medicine. It was all a blur, but I am just glad that everything is ok. This was all a result from the fertility medications. It appears that I got hyperstimulation. I am to take it easy the next couple of days. Whew, I cannot wait for things to be normal again.

I finally got to see the ultrasound photos today and actually be excited about them. Only thing is that the second twin is a bit smaller and a lower heart rate so there is a chance that it may be lost. I am hoping for the best and am happy either way. The main thing is I am ok and still pregnant.

Hello everyone

Sher - Oh my goodness, another set of TWINS!!! Thats 3 of you! Poor you having to go through all that. At least you are ok and been monitored now, so hopefully with time things should settle down. I really hope everyting goes ok for you and your 2nd twin pulls through. When do you have another scan? Take care of yourself and REST!!

Joy - Good luck with your scan tommorrow. Keeping everything crossed that it is all ok and you get to see your baby and a heartbeat.

Feeling very strange emotionally at the moment. Getting upset and ratty with DH over things. I also think it doesnt help because im not sleeping well at night. Just uncomfortable and too hot. I normally sleep v.well so im not used to it. Have sometimes had a sleep in the afternoon when i can as sometimes feel v.lethargic then, but wake up feeling worse!
Sorry for whittering on. I do feel guilty sometimes for feeling fed up when I know so many other women would give anything to be pregnant and in my place.

Anyway, hope everyone else is coping ok.
Take care

Morning Girls!

Wow it's all happening on here!!!!!!
Sher - So happy for you - TWINS!!!! So sorry for all the pain you have been through, but what a huge relief to know your little ones are right there in the right place! Hope your ovaries settle down for you ASAP - are you resting up ok?
Kim - What a lovely Anniversary pressie!!!! Hope you had a wonderful day!! Don't ever think that you can't let off steam, we are all here for each other, and don't be hard on yourself - being pregnant is of course amazing but still very overwhelming and a lot to get used to! We all feel the same so don't you worry..
Joy - Loads of luck for today! We are all thinking of you.. Also just to say I also find myself pretty emotional now! If a lovely piece of piano music comes on the telly, it's tears galore!!!!!!! I'm just the same!
Mil - Your scan sounds so amazing!!!!!! No wonder you are still feeling on top of the world!! To see your littel Baby moving about - wow!
Suz - I had so many weird pains at first that i asked for an early scan. I didn't realise how common pains in the first few weeks were and it really threw me. And as Mil says, the fact you have two little ones growing away there you are bound to have even more than most! Hope you're doing ok..
Minnow - So pleased about your scan! Seeing their little arms waving must have been amazing!
Clare - Congratulations to you!! And welcome to the thread! Brilliant news about your first scan - it's amazing isn't it!
Hello to anyone I have missed!

Well our scan went well too luckily!! Little Jellybean Bubs is doing great and had grown loads since we saw that tiny little bean and the heart was just fluttering on the first scan, this scan their heart was thumping away and our Consultant said they have got a really good strong heartbeat! PHEW!! Much more shape too and even got a couple of pics which are in pride of place now!!!!! It seems somehow I have got my dates a bit wrong but not sure how, they said according to my Blast transfer date I was 7.5 weeks on wednesday and not 8 as I thought, and my ticker is even a day earlier than that as I tested a day earlier!! Well I have been officially pregnant from that day!! But the main thing is they were really happy and said everything was exactly as it should be for now, Bubs is a little small but our Consultant said that the proportion was just right and that was completely fine so I am not going to tie myself up worrying about that! (Try!) I have a very small build anyway so hoping that's just Bubs taking after Mum!!!! Just glad that little one had grown which hopefully is the main thing?

Well happy ginger drinking everyone!!

Hi Everyone

Kel, You must be so pleased. I can't wait for my next scan.

Sher, I don't know if you already know this, but I was in hospital with OHSS from day 10 of my ET. I had fluid building up everywhere, from my thighs right up into my lungs. It was very painful and scary, so I know exactly how you feel. Just keep resting as much as you can, and drink plenty of water to help get the fluid moving.

When my IVF consultant saw me, he said "you're proably having twins".
He said that it was common in IVF twin pregnancies, for the mother to develop OHSS, because of the medication and the double surge of hormones from the twins.

It turned out he was right, and I'm not surprised you're having them too.

Hello sweeties

please forgive me for being an absolute coward, and not posting much here  . Our scare 2 weeks ago did my head in so much. But today we had our 7 week sacn and we saw our little 1cm tapas baby in its 2cm bag and a wonderful heartbeat, fibriods shouldn't play a roll (  ) so I am feeling more confident   will try and be better company now

It's so exciting to hear all your news now I have caught up. Suz and Sher - congrats on the twins  . Have said before that I really think of you poor girls who had IVF and your ovaries. I am benefitting at least in one way from donor eggs.

Joy and TJ had scans today if I read the board right??? how did it go girls??

Clare - so glad to see you here, well done on your sweetie and your heartbeat, makes all the difference doesn't it?? Didn't measure mine.

minnow - I have a feeling I'll be joining you in the head down the pan party you poor sweetie. I am feeling queasy since the 2ww and it's gettinbg slowly worse. I get it worst in the afternoon til bedtime. Threw up in the car park yesterday, so far not regularly yet   Oh well lovely problem to have. I have lemon and ginger tea from the health shop that helps and very cold water with a bit of peach juice. dh has to drink coffee in another room and then brush his teeth heh heh

mil - so jealous of the arms waving about scan!!! I get one in 2 weeks, they are treating me like china at the gyneas so 2 week check ups at no extra charge   You little fattie you  actually know the feeling I now have 3 maternity bras and waer one at night too as the boobies are quite outrageous and mega painful  bump definitely starting (had 3 month large womb anyway) - reckon jeans will last another 2 weeks, have summer "baggy" trousers - just no summer!!!!!

Kel - well done on your scan  I am basing my dates on the scan now, although it's too early to be accurate and will always vary with time and it's only based on averages anyway so don't get yourself worried. Based on the sacn I am 7 weeks 1 day, based on "dates" ie fertilisation day, should be 7 weeks 2 days, at the first scan 1 1/2 weeks ago it was 3 days different. Don't do your head in about it. My donor was smaller than me, dh is huge, wonder what will come out when small mum + big dad baby is cooked in big mum ????

Love and kisses to all of you, sorry if I left someone out..

Well we are an active group of 1st trimester buddies, that's for sure!

Thanks for all your thoughts and encouragement. Sorry for the previous long message, but in all honesty it helped me to get it out. I am resting up ok and plan to attempt going back to work on Monday if all progresses well.

Suz - Thank you for sharing your OHSS experience. It sounds like you had gone through quite a bit there at the beginning and I hope things continue to be smooth for you.

TJ - I am so glad to hear that your scan went well today. Sorry, I always seem to cheat and go ahead of my testing buddies. Much to my dismay, I do not remember much of my scan on Tuesday. I feel slighted to have been in so much pain. So I plan to have another ultrasound on Week 9.

Kel - Sounds like things are going great for you and your little ones are doing well.

K - Not too much longer until 2nd trimester when everything is supposed to calm down a bit. Don't worry about your emotions right now. . .it is very common to feel this way.

Joy - Best of luck to you on your scan today. I'm thinking of you.

I did find out an interesting bit of news today from my IVF doc. He said that many regular pregnancies start out as twins. Most women do not have scans as early as we do so they never find this out. And due to the sophisticated technology these days, they are able to find this out sooner. I do not know if my second little one is going to make it, but I am keeping a realistic view on this. The main thing is that everyone stays healthy and gets through these first 12 weeks.

Have a nice weekend everyone!
