Hello everyone

Congratulations and welcome to all the newbies! Its getting hard to keep up now! The end of June has certainly been good for BFP's.

Smita - I saw your news on the gen.form re your scan. So glad they found the heartbeat the 2nd time round. Take it easy and look after yourself.

Wardley - congratulations on your twins! You are going to have a houseful! Fantastic news.

Esther - Im so glad your pains have subsided. It's weird getting used to all the different aches and pains isnt it? Im fine now if they are the 'normal' aches and pains, its just if theres anything different. Pregnancy books only tell you so much. I get a lot more reassurance from this site.

Clare - completely empathise with the sleeping problems. Im so used to getting up now at least once or twice in the night to use the loo. At least its not as hot now, so sleeping bit better. Good luck with your scan on Thursday. I had my 2nd scan at 8w 3d. It looks so much like a real baby at that stage - you'll be so excited when you see it!!

Megan - As I said for Esther, its weird getting used to all these different aches and pains. I imagine if there is more than 1 baby you will have more. Good luck! wishing your first scan to hurry up and come quick!!

Mil and Kel - Talking about been emotional! I was trying to change ny doctor yesterday. I have decided I need one closer. She used to have a 2nd clinic near to me, but closed it down 3 yrs ago, so I have to travel further now. I was refused by 2 doctors because 'I havent just moved into the area'. I was so frustrated I was getting really angry and then burst into tears!! Anyway, managed to get accepted by the 3rd one. It's still further away than I wanted, but they were very nice.
Kel - Good luck with your scan on friday!

Sher - I believe you have a scan this weds? Good luck. Hope both your twins are doing ok.

Suz - Hope your scan yesterday went well. Looking forward to hearing your news.

Hope everyone else is ok. I felt v.nauseous yesterday. I thought it should be improving by now, im 11 wks!! Oh well, not complaining.

Take care everyone. These post get longer!!

Hi Girls!

Kim - Glad you got your Docs sorted, can't believe how much of a nightmare it can be now to get on a surgery list - it's ridiculous! Poor you, not surprised you felt tearful! When I lived in London the only doctors we could get into was a system where you couldn't make an appointment, you just had to go down on a first come first serve basis like going to A+E! It was awful!!! Hope your nausea is not too bad today?? Have you got a 12 week scan coming up??

Esther - That was very well said - we do need to get enjoying our PG's! I promsied myself that when I got my blood results back and was on top of the world, but soon turned into a nervous wreck! So much for the promise!! When I had my last scan I said right I am going to chill now, but a few days later I started worrying for the next one!! Must try harder!!!
Glad you are doing ok - I think the dizzy spells are pretty common, so that's a good sign. I start seeing spots before my eyes if I get up too quick!

Mil - We are the tearful gang I think! I cry very easily these days too, all those hormones raging!

Sher - Have you got your scan this week?? If you have wishing you loads of luck!

Well thankfully my rubbish eating cravings have been replaced with fruit cravings now! :P DH came home with a bag full of fruity goodies from the supermarket yesterday, so with my breakfast this morning had a huge piece of watermelon and a bowl of cherries!!! mmmm!! Hope it stays that way! So any weird cravings yet girls????

Bye for now,
Love Kel XX

Esther - I agree with you on enjoying pregnancy. I really am trying to and I think the 2nd trimester will probably be a bit smoother for all of us. I believe that is when some of the symptoms subside.

K - Hope you are getting over your nausea. I have had small doses of it so far. I try to tell myself that if I eat healthy, I won't get it. That is not always the case though. Glad you settled in on a doctor. That should put your mind at ease.

Kel - Glad to hear you are eating more healthy. I have had cravings for salads, cereal and tuna fish sandwiches. Not sure what that is all about. I am watching the tuna since some fishes are off limits. Luckily I work in a fine dining restaurant so I am always being exposed to new dishes. :D

Suz - Hope your scan went well yesterday. Looking forward to your update.

I will be at 9 weeks tomorrow and having my first OB appt. I was discouraged to find out that there will be no ultrasound, but only checking fetal heartbeat and other standard checks. Maybe when he sees the previous ultrasound with twins, he may look into it further. I have been advised to not have a pelvic exam until my ovaries go down - still a bit enlarged. I've been very tired and it seems like all I do at home is sleep to gain energy for the next day. Sleeping about 10 hours a night! Anyone else experiencing fatigue? I would assume so. This past weekend, I spent the entire day of Sunday sleeping. I have to laugh because it does not seem like I am doing much outwardly, but there must be a lot of work going on inside.

Take care all and I will be in touch after my appt. tomorrow!

Esther- Congrats on the morning sickness! (Weren't you wanting some symptoms?)

Kim- There is hope for the nausea. I woke up this morning (10w4d) and it was is if someone had flipped a switch and turned it off. I was so frustrated this weekend with how horrible I felt that I just kept crying. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Sher- I was having the same kind of fatigue- I think you just have to give into it and nap. My problem is that I never really felt refreshed after the nap, just confused.

Now the daytime fatigue is less, but I am having a hard time sleeping at night. I was always a tummy sleeper, and I think everyone just experienced a growth spurt, because now it just doesn't work. It also is a complicated affair to build the right structure out of pillows to support my new anatomy. Think I'm going to get one of those full-body ones.

Mil- I think we are exactly the same day (10w4d)- was your ET on May 2nd? I was seeing Dr. Jimmy Gill at Vista Fertility. It is weird about the projesterone- I was also making enough, but he just keeps people on it for 10 weeks. They did take me off estrogen patches/pills after a week, though. I just had my last appointment with him today. I'll be seeing an OB at Hermann, though. Where do you work in the Med Center?

It was amazing to be scanned today- one of the twins was kicking the other in the head and you could see everything, including the one being kicked trying to get away from the abuse! The whole thing was really very emotional- those are little tiny people. I don't know what I expected, but not that much movement and detail already.

As for the worrying- I guess we all know a little too much about every aspect of these pregnancies to not be always a little concerned. Just think, ladies, some women in this point of their pregnancy may not even know they are pregnant yet!

Julie

You made me laugh about the pillows. Ive been uncomfortable lying on my stomach for a while now and am always 'reconstructing' them and driving DH mad!
Your poor twin been kicked in the head by it's sibling! That will be something to talk about when they are older! I bet it was amazing seeing that!
Nausea wasnt bad today. Yesterday must have just been an off day.
Im seeing the midwife for the first time tommorrow, so will hopefully find out if I can have a scan before 20 wks.
Take care

hi girls, just about caught up with everyone and from what i can gather we are still a sore boob, twingey tummy, windy, constipated, sicky, tired, BUT very excited group of people!!

it is amazing how in touch we all get with our bodies now isnt it? i guess ivf is the lead up to that anyway.

i still feel grateful every day that goes past without any major eents and am now counting the days until my nuchal fold scan next monday although of course i am already anxious about what will come up from that!! it will be a singnificant marker tough to get to 12 weeks and i cant wait.

my nausea has remained pretty bad, although it hasnt been awful every day. the highlight was throwing up in the garden of some friends we were staying with over the weekend!! i definitely have a little tummy now and i hope it isnt all wind! is anyone else showing at around this stage? it's not really noticeable - only when i flash it at friends!

good luck with all the scans etc coming up. i see there have been quite a few more bfps over the last day or so , so it will be great to welcome them here. i guess some of us will be second trimester soon...how lovely.

best wishes to all.

Reading all your posts on how nausea can be horrid, still makes me want to go through it- if only to feel pregnant..(stupid huh?)
Maybe I'll feel less anxious..
Its good to be here though..The spotting I have is so scary- I go and check every hour literally-the clinic told me to come back if it changed colour, or increased, so I'm paranoid..
Still, cant help but be amazed at the thought that i have life within me :D
Its wonderful how IVF gives so many women hope and happiness..

Hi everyone

Just to let you know that the 8wk scan went fine. All very exciting to see something which resembles a baby on the monitor (although it is hard with your hands under your bum to crane your neck to see!). We have now been discharged from the unit which is a bit scarey - and sad really as I liked my gyni chap very much and trusted him implicitly.

On to the next thing - logging in with my GP and getting started on anti-natal care.

Hope everyone else is feeling OK today.

Ladies Hie

After worrying so much about side pain which now has subsided, Iam worried again about my symptoms being very few and sometimes nil.
The worrying never stops. I have been reading a great deal about ectopis and now qualify to be an expert but that doesnt take my fears away. The only symptom I always have is fatigue. that sometimes puts my mind to rest.

How do we date ivf pregnancy months/days. I once heard that after the
+ve result, that will be 4wks. Is it true. And when does cramping stop I havent cramped for 3 days now. Iam worried.

Smita am glad your scan went well and you managed to see a heart beat. Hope and pray the spotting is just normal.

Wardley Congratulations on your twins, double harvest.

Kel about your eating habits mine are weird craving rice with tomato and onion soup for breakfast. Fruits are great very healthy.

sher8 hope your first OB appt goes well. Yes I am always tired these days.

Julie- that twin kicking episode really made me laugh what a sight, bet you were excited seeing so much star wars action taking place within you, though it was abuse.

Kim hope you wil get a scan before 20wks, glad to know you are feeling ok.

minnow - hope you are feeling better with your nausea.

clare- good about your scan and good luck after being discharged from the clinic, I would be scared too as i have such a wonderful relationship with everyone at my clinic, hope all will be fine and you get a nice midwife.

just me worrying again

Hello ladies! Glad to hear everyone is doing well. My nausea is pretty much gone!!!! :D It's almost scary... :( Now I keep thinking what if the baby is gone, but of course I know that is ridiculous because I would know. It's amazing how much better you start to feel. I'm not quite as hungry either. I am still tired but now as tired. I am also having a really hard time sleeping at night. I have always been a really heavy sleeper. Not anymore. Guess the body is preparing us for what is to come. :?

Julie:
Nice to meet someone from Houston. My ET was on April 29th. I don't know your Dr. I saw Dr. Leah Schenk with Obstetrical Gynecological Associates. They are located at the Women's Hospital. I am a consultant and my client right now is Hermann. I work in the UT Medical School building which is connected to the Hospital. I am assuming you are going to the Professional Building and not the Hospital. It does look like we are the same as in progress. Are you due Jan 20th too? Sounds like your scan was awesome.

Esther:
In the beginning the symptoms should be very small. Most women don't start having nausea until 7 weeks. I started right around 6 weeks. My doctor told me not to worry because most symptoms will start around 7 weeks. My doctor also told me not to read too much because sometimes that can scare you more than help you. I read a lot in the beginning and I think I was making myself think things were happening. I know how hard it is because you don't want anything to happen. You could your weeks based on the date of your ET and then add 2 weeks. So my ET was on 4/29/05 so they start counting from 4/15/05 which makes me 10w 6d. I hope that helps!

Sher:
I had my 1st OB appointment at 10w and I was sad that I wasn't going to get another scan too but my OB couldn't find the baby's heartbeat with the Doppler so she had to do a scan. She told me that sometimes it is hard to hear the heartbeat with the Doppler before 12w because the cervix is too low. So maybe you will get a scan???? :)

Mil, you couldn't be more right. I went to my OB yesterday and was really happy with my choice. He tried the doppler, but my uterus is tilted so he did not make any promises that we would hear anything. And we didn't. :?

Because of the chance that I have a twin holding on, he suggested I go for an ultrasound in two weeks or my week 11. My scan is scheduled for July 11th that could not come soon enough!!

Glad to hear that nausea is subsiding for some of you. I never really had a bad case of it, but I guess my OHSS was payback for that.

Have a great weekend!

Yesterday I went to the loo and found tracies of brown staff that resembled blood, which prompted me to investigate further only to be
confronted by blood not a lot but i saw blood, red blood though it was just a tiny bit I phoned the clinic straight away and the doctor said probably its an embryo that failed to implant being ejected out of my body, since it wasnt painful she told me not to worry. I have been observing and I can only see brown staff coming out not a lot as well probably remains from yesterday. But that worries me as I mentioned earlier that my boobs are not as sore as they used to be. And me being on progynova and progesterone I think I can only bleed after stopping progynova.

MIL- Thanks that really puts my mind to rest. Thanks for clarifying the dates calculations as well, MY ET WAS ON THE 7/06/05 that means iam 5wks 3days now. Its amazing how we all worry about our symptoms. Its good to know you are doing great .

Hope everyone is coping well with their pregos

Hello!
Esther:
Don't worry too much about the blood. I know it is really scary. I also had brownish spotting and got very worried. It was after I had already confirmed that I was pregnant so of course I thought the worse. My doctor informed that it is normal for some women to spot several weeks after confirming the pregnancy. It sometimes takes that long for the blood to make its way out after implantation. I also was worried because my boobs were not as sore either but as time goes on they become less sore. I was even on progesterone too. I also had a little bit of red blood after my DH and I had sex which is also normal. I guess blood can build up in your cervix and can be release after sex. I will keep you in my prayers.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. We are going to visit family for the holiday. This is will be the first time anyone in my family has seen us since we got the positive results!!! :D

Esther- I also want to second (or third) not to worry about the spotting, but I know we are a worrying group. A friend of mine (also IVF) is actually passing clots and has gotten several scans which reveal that all is fine- it was old blood from the placenta of one of hers that was just settling down, which has attached just fine, but the blood takes several weeks to be eliminated.

Smita- I was also put on a blood thinner (Lovenox- like heparin). I don't know if you had any bloodwork done looking for autoimmune problems, but mine was a precaution as I have MS. It can really help prevent miscarriages and cerebral palsy if you have any sort of blood or immune issue that could harm the fetus. Of course, in my case, it means a daily injection for the duration of the pregnancy, but what are a couple more needles to this crowd?

Mil- Yes, also due January 20th. However, my OB doesn't like to let twins go past 37 weeks, as he says the placentas stop functioning as efficiently, so he prefers 36.5-37 weeks. That puts me at Dec. 27th-Jan 31st! I hope he has figured me into his holiday plans. I had pre-pregnancy visions of having a cute Christmas tree and a lovely dinner with my husband- my vision now is of me beached on an air mattress in our living room watching Christmas specials as I feast on take out... I have already had the undignified moment of my husband picking half of a saltine cracker off of my back after I rolled over on it in bed, so I have given up on feminine mystique for the duration of this pregnancy.

Minnow- I will be very anxious to hear how your nuchal scan goes on Monday. I am scheduled for Wednesday. It will be interesting to compare notes.
