I was going to post yesterday as I was feeling really awful, but then I read Kel's post and everything was pulled back into perspective. It is devastating news and my heart goes out to Kel and her DH.

I was feeling terrible as I suffer from ulcerative colitis - which is inflamation of the lower intestines. I have been taking drugs to keep this at bay while I was on the treatment but naturally have been concerned about taking them now that I am pregnant. I was very naughty and instead of asking the gastroenterologist, I took the decision myself to wean myself off the tablets over the last four weeks, but yesterday it all flared back up and was just awful. The cramping was so bad, I couldn't even sit down - it cramps all round your backside as well as the sides and front too.

I have now been a big girl and have made an apt to see the gastro guy tomorrow. I guess I will have to go back onto the tablets and hope that that will be ok. It's a toss up between mum being OK throughout pregnancy (it can't be good to go through a day like yesterday) and possible side effects on baby of taking the tablets. I was told that it was supposed to get better with pregnancy but on reading further on the internet, it seems that sometimes it even gets worse.

Sorry to have such a moan at you all

Hope everyone else is feeling ok.

Smita - Glad to hear your scan went well and you now have "piece of mind" about your pregnancy.

Clare - Sorry to hear about your pain. It sounds like you will need to take care of your health first and foremost so that you can have a smooth pregnancy. Can't blame yourself for trying to get off the medications. . .

Wardley - Looking forward to Monday's scan. I haven't had one since six weeks and sometimes finding it hard to believe I am still pregnant.

My blood tests came back from the OB last week. Showing a slight case of anemia, which is pretty normal during pregnancy. I may have to take some iron supplement. I did read that pomegranite juice is really good for pregnancy so I bought myself a big jug of it.

See link for more details.

Hie Ladies

Iam fine Smita, Iam glad your baby is growing fine. Since the day I spotted I havent spotted again, and hope it will be good like that for the next nine months. Iam still shaken by Kel's news and since I joined this Thread 3 women have lost their much wanted babys. WHY GOD. IVF WOMEN NEED AN ANSWER, we go thru a lot to get where we are only to be confronted by such breaking moments, I think its not fair.

My first scan is on monday I am so anxious I wish I can pull the days closer. I stil continue to be bloated and constipated as well as a bit of nausea and heart burn. My boobs are not as sore though they sting from time to time.

Clare- I pray you get better and your body accepts what is growing inside and the pain to subside. Hope you have been ok today.

Sher8- Thanks about the Pomegranite I will treat myself to some.

Everyone please look after yourselves and enjoy your pregos.

Hello everyone

Hope you are all coping ok. Im also still gutted about Kel's news. Like Esther says, it just doesnt seem fair. After everything we all go through to just get pregnant. I so hope the rest of us continue to have happy healthy pregnancies. I can cope with the side effects, as long as everythings ok.
I know I dont really belong here anymore in the first trimester thread, (although some books do start the 2nd trimester from 13 or 14 wks) but I hope you girls dont mind if I stick around a bit longer, until a few of you can join me in another 2nd trimester thread? They are weeks ahead of me in the 2nd trimester thread going at the moment! I was wondering about setting up another one and calling it '2nd trimester friends from July'? Let me know what you think.
Take care everyone

hi all, hope you're all doing ok in spite of the hideous anxieties and the huge sadness we're all feeling to hear of someone else's loss. i am glad that the other scans which have taken place recently have been reassuring - try and be positive and assume it will continue to be that way. Clare, sounds like you have been in a lot of pain and i do hope you get it sorted out quickly enough.

my pregnancy has continued much the same but the sickness still rages on. i get the odd day when i dont feel too bad, but yesterday was the worst yet with non stop vomitting all day and a complete inability to move from my bed! DH thank god is a doctor and eventually agreed to give me somethibg to stop me being sick, so by ten last night things had settled down. today feels ok so far. tomorrow i'm meant to be flying to mallorca for a girls weekend, so i really hope i can get on that plane!!

my good news is that i had a wonderful nuchal scan on monday. we went to the fetal Medicine Centre in Harley st. london, which i cant recommend enough if you want to go privately. they do a blood test as well as the scan which apparently increases the accuracy. little squidege looked wonderful - like a real baby! leaping around and kicking and punching. i heard the heartbeae for the first time which sent me into floods of tears! thank goodness everything looks normal and healthy and my results were great. nuchal translucency was 1.1 mm and my risk of downs was 1:1791 which is just amazing. i had been told the average for my age (38) is 1:92. i definitely wont have any more tests and will try and start to really enjoy this pregnancy now.

love to all and i am ready to join that 2nd trimester group if you fancy setting it up Kim, although i will of course continue to stick around here to see how you all are. kim, is it your scan today??

Minnow, glad you're scan went well. I've got one booked for the 20th as I refuse to have a CVS or amnio I am going to rely on results of the nuchal.
Things arent good for me at the mo. Last Tuesday I had a chicken sandwich from the same shop I always go to and ever since I've had the most awful stomach pains and diorreah. My doctor is sending me for an emergency scan at the hospital tomorrow to see if bubs is OK. I havent had any bleeding just cramps, so I'm hoping all is OK, but cant help but worry as I know salmonella and other stomach upsets cause miscarriage.
I'm going on holiday on Saturday so at least I'll know the outcome by then.
Hope your all OK

Hi all,
Susie, i hope all is ok-
Clare, hope your pain has subsided by now..
Esther Good to hear you';re not spotting- must be a relief..
Kim,Minnow dont go away to another thread yet..
I'm just getting used to this thread...
I still would love some nausea..
I was in hosp yday. I'm still spotting daily, thought it was going to be a part of my preg, but then got paranoid when i saw fresh blood yday..They admitted me, gave me my usual heparin injection - did a scan this morning where thankfully the baby was ok- but they said theres some collection- though God alone knows what that means..My doc isn't too encouraging with questions, so am always a little scared with her..
Like when i asked her if I could go home, she said if I was confident enough to risk it, it was upto me..
I thought I'd feel better at home so got discharged- have been told to run back at the sight of fresh bleeding, as of now I contnue checking- am scared to sit oo long at the computer also..
Still having the usual spotting though..and feel tired and dizzy a lot..
Sorry abt moaning so much..

Hi everyone

Susie - I hope everything is ok with you and your scan puts your mind at rest tommorrow. How awful for you to go through that.

Minnow -Im so pleased your scan went well. Puts your mind at rest.
I dont think Ill have another scan now until 20 weeks. The midwife did say if we were worried about anything we could have another if we want. DH would jump at having another scan, but I dont want one unnecessarily, unless it is for something specific as the nuchal scan. She didnt say anything about the nuchal scan. I havent actually had my 'booking in' app yet, so I will probably ask more then. We are considering the triple test. Like Susie I dont think I could consider a CVS or amnio. Too scary - the thought of losing it now, even if it is a small risk.
Poor you with your nausea and sickness. Mine has actually got worse since my 11th week(!?) but only nausea, nothing like you are putting up with. Hope you get away on your weekend and have a good time!

Clare - Im sorry about your illness. I hope you can find some way of coping. Just a thought - I know you've probably tried everything, but have you considered or tried alternative\complementary medicine??

Smita - Dont apologise for moaning! You are having to cope with a lot and that is what we are here for, to support you! I know it's hard to relax in your situation but at least your little embie is tough and hanging in there! Keep resting!

Esther and Smita - thank you for asking us to stay! Its nice to feel wanted!
Ill probably hang on a little longer, but will have to move on at some point to make room for all these BFP's that are appearing!! Would obviously still keep up to date and poke my nose in every now and again though!!

Hope everyone ive not mentioned is ok.
Take care
