No Eggs Yet

Post by sandbox »

Hi All,

I have started my IVF treatment a few weeks ago. I have been on Synarela & Gonal for the past two weeks. My scan indicated that I had no response to the hormone stimulation, which means that I have not produced any eggs. My doctor recommends I return for anther scan in three days, if the result of the scan remains the same, and if he sees that there are no eggs present, that this cycle be canceled. Has any anybody experienced this before? Please inform.

Hi Sandbox. Welcome to the Site. Sorry to hear that you've not responded to the medication so far. There have been others in the same situation. I know it's difficult but try to remain positive. What we frequently see is a leap in response towards the end of treatment. Really - in another 3 days your scan could show a completely different picture.

If your next scan does still show you haven't responded, your dr may be able to try a different stimulating medication on your next cycle. You could respond totally differently to a different medication.

Let us know how you go on with your scan on Thurs. Good luck !

Hi Sandra,

Thanks so much for your response and encouragement. I was a bit disappointed at first, but now I feel much better. I hope my scan, tomorrow, shows a better result. If not, I will definitely ask my dr. to put me on a different medication. Let you know how it goes.

Keeping my fingers crossed!!!

Sandbox

Good luck for your scan tomorrow, here's hoping that you have good news then.

Like Sand says though, you could respond completely differently to a new medication.

I didn't respond to Clomid at all, yet still had to endure 3 failed IUI's before they moved me onto IVF - the drugs are understandably a lot more powerful but they said I had a "normal" response to them, so why didn't I respond to the other ones?! One of lifes little mysteries I guess.

Keeping fingers crossed for you that you hear positive news tomorrow

Hi

HOW Did your scan go to-day?? Any positive news?

It's my 1st IVF and have been having the same problems, no follies forming so no eggs. Have posted a message on the general forum relating to it. Have my 10 day stimulating scan frid 12th so hope to see something, but have been told the same as you. If no growth to abandon the cycle and try another stim drug. But twhat this will entail for me is waiting for my AF and then 21 day wait after to start down reg again. were you told same?

My Scan Results

Post by sandbox »

Hello Ladies,

Well, my scan yesterday didn’t reveal any eggs present, so my doctor told me that it would be better to cancel this cycle, and wait until I get my menstural cycle, in the next few weeks. Then he will take a blood test for FSH, Estradiol, and Progestron, to see their levels in order to devise the next treatment. Although he had checked my FSH levels – which were of normal level - before I began the treatment. In my next treatment, he will consider changing the medication and method (not down regulation per say).

I failed to mention, that in the beginning, I was started with taking Synarela for a week first, then Gonal 225 units for a week. I went in for a scan after that, and there were no signs of anything happening, so my doctor decided to increase the dosage of Gonal to 375 units, then the second scan showed no improvements either, so that’s why the cycle was canceled.

In one way, I’m glad that I am not on Gonal anymore – the side effects were terrible! - The hot flashes drove me nuts, constant stomach upsets, and annoying itching spells (espec. in public). As for Synarela however, I sneezed for a good 5 – 10 min intervals shortly after taking it, and experienced dizzy spells from time to time.

My husband and I were disappointed, because we have invested a lot of emotional effort and hope. Maybe we were too optimists and didn’t take anticipate bumps on the way. The good thing is that I still have 2 attempts, and may be we could be lucky and succeed.

Now I have to sit back and just think positive. :)

Thanks a million to all of you,

hi Kenzie and hubby
:( sorry to hear that your cycle was cancelled. My heart goes out to you.big hugs...It sounds like your consultant knows what he's doing and is getting the best mix of drugs for you. So allow yourself time to get over this and keep PMA for the next time.

My scan today again showed nothing, no follies at all after 10days of inj. so my cycle too has been cancelled... I am :( :( :( ... My DP
Adam was so unhappy we have decided to go away up North Scotland for a long weekend to just chill and forget about inj/scans/hosp appointments for a few days.

I have no idea what is going to happen about my next cycle. My nurse will have a meeting with the whole team and consultant next Frid. Then we will look at other drugs approx 2 menses from now. 10 weeks away seems such a long time...
But hey PMA...NEXT time the drugs will be right and we will both get to EC...

take care speak to you Tuesday, hope it helps you to know that we are in the same boat...a problem shared is a problem halved.[

Kenizie - I'm sorry you've had this news today. I can imagine just how disappointed you must be, having got this far. The positive thing is your doc will have learnt so much from this cycle and be able to tailor tmt better next time.

You make sure you treat yourselves a little for now.

Take care

no eggs

Post by heather14 »

Hi girls- I too had no eggs my first ivf. I had five follies but they were empty. I did go for EC but for obvious reasons no farther. Have you had a FSH test? Mine was 15 which is 5 higher than my doc would like. The lupron probally was somewhat to blame but it does look like prem. ovarian failure. Ask to get this test. I have had 2 more ivf's which happy to say resulted in 3 eggs each. So this is not the end of the world, but do get tested and go from there. Heather14

hi

Kenzie How are you doing? Thinking of you Girl...

thanks for more info Heather...will ask about the FSH test when i speak to the hospital team friday 19th!

Also I was told on another thread that Wysolone 5mg can bring down FSH levels, going to ask about that too.

can't believe it's a week since i was told tmt cancelled. On one hand it seem a life time ago on another my heart still feels the loss. Silly really when i didn't even get to EC never mind ET or 2ww.

Know in my head that getting the meds right will help. Looking forward to finding out what the plan of action is from them tomorrow .

PMA...every day
