Vicky and Jacky!

What great advice you have given. You are right.. It has been kinda a rough rode since last week- Crap... I even have one brother that hasn't even acknowledged the fact that we are pregnant. Family is lovely. My other brother however is sweet and offered about the same advice today as you ladies about the WJ wife of DH friend. My mom said that I need to surround myself with happy things becasue this is a joyous time.. Old woman speaks like Yoda- very knowledgeable. Thank you for your kind words of encouragement. hi all hope everyone is ok and well.........i have made it to the 12 weeks and am really happy never thought i would ever see this day but now im here im over the moon i have my 12 week scan on thursday and i cant wait to see my babys.....oh yes im still being really sick morning,noon and night there playiny me up nevermind they will be worth it..

You said plural... BABIES!! How many do you have ? That is great!!! when did you have your first scan when they determined how many you had ? I have my first Scan 22 Sept. Kinda scared!!!

Hi everyone - Jodi, I was amazed and shocked by your awful experience - what a terrible thing to happen. I saw a psychic 3 years ago (would never do it again) and she said I would miscarry before I ever got pregnant - that has haunted me ever since. Even when you know its crap its amazing how it can unnerve you. I sympathise with you and suggest you totally ignore it - hard I know but people like that are silly and wrong and are best far away from people like us! You will be fine and maybe the real test is having faith even in the face of such anxiety (which you have) and because you are doing that you will prove her wrong.
Hi to everyone else - had first midwife appointment on Tues which was disappointing - only list of questions and no listening for heartbeat - what a let down! I have 12 week scan booked for next Tues though and nuchal translucency scan for following Thurs so hopefully they will be far more exciting - can't wait. Smita - thanks for good wishes re 2nd tri - can't wait to get over there. I'm praying everything is on track at next week's scan and can hopefully calm down a bit after that!

Hi Cheryl

I smiled when I read your post because I felt exactly the same at my first midwife appointment! Just a list of questions about family history etc. My booking in appointment which I had at 14 weeks also was mainly questions and then a blood sample. I wasnt examined at all! Felt so disappointed! You feel so excited and proud to be pregnant and then dont even get an examination! Ive just had my 21 week antenatal checkup, following my 20 week scan (which was amazing!). This checkup was the first time she listened to the baby's heartbeat, I could hear it as well. Felt more emotional than the scan! Im sure there will come a time when we are maybe fed up of been prodded and examined, but at the moment its a novelty. Good luck with the scans next week! I only had scans at 6.5 and 8.5 weeks until my 20 week scan, so you dont have as long to wait to see your baby. I used to wonder is it still there?! Although my nausea (which I still have!) reassured me somewhat.

Hi all

Hope everyones doing okay. Just a quick one -I woke up in the night and needed to go to the loo as normal but had brown - (I assume) blood when I wiped - not happened since. What does it mean? I'm REALLY worried and feel super emotional but then have been all week anyway. Would really appreciate some info. Thanks - sorry to have focussed on myself. Vicky

Remember brown discharge usually signifies old blood (not fresh) - although I wouldn't think it's anything to worry about, it is always worth that phone call to the professional for reassurance.

My Midwife appointment was the same - she was lovely, but I was so hoping that she was going to produce a doppler from her bag of tricks that I was really upset when she got up to leave without doing so. I almost went looking for it myself!!!

You will love the 12 weeks scan - the difference is amazing and it's such a wonderful picture to see. Take care of yourself and good luck next week.

TMI post, but maybe it'll help..
I started spotting(brown discharge) abt a week before my first scan and was paranoid- it happened for 2 days continuously, and so I ran to my clinic who did a scan only to find no heartbeat( I was abt exactly 6 weeks then) They kept me under observatin for a 4 days and on the 4th day, they found the heartbeat- It was such a relief and they sent me home.
I continued to spot until my 2nd tri and the only advice frm the docs was to keep an eye on it and make sure it didnt turn red(to go to the clinic immdly if it did) and to put my feet up as much as possible.

Hope it helps you- and I know that Esther was having spotting as well, but stopped in a few days- P as usual is lovely with advice - brown blood is old blood.

I kind of envy you girls in the west cause we dont have a midwife thingie happening- all of it sounds exciting and lovely to me..

Feeling a little better now although keep crying at everything! It hasn't happened since. Thank you for the advice and your experiences it's really helpful. Got my 6wk scan on Monday so really nervous about that - just keep thinking it would be impossible for that to be okay - which is obviously not the right attitude. I'll be more positive tomorrow. Hey all ,
Ok I think I am ready to come over here finally.
I just had a second scan today ( my doc is awesome) and
the baby's heart beat increased from 118 last week to 141 this week
it is very exciting but I am still scared.
I assume we all are. well that's all for now I think i need a nap.

hi everyone thanks for all the good luck messages my scan was fantastic both babies are fine both had really good heartbeats and they are the size of which they should be for 12 weeks one looked like it was sleeping but the other was moving about a lot and kicking out at the other one it was really funny.....my partner said we should name them while im pregnant so he is calling them rooney and ruud (big man u fan)but thats only till there born ha ha

Joy - Its great to see you back on this side! I hope all goes well for you and you have a stress-free(!) pregnancy from now on. Enjoy every minute
(even though im suffering from pelvic pain, heartburn, nausea etc etc I still enjoy it all-its a wonderful time!). Look after yourself!

Vicky- Hope your scan on monday reassures you. I found waiting for the first scan harder than the 2ww. Ive heard of a few girls having spotting while pg and their babies are ok. Poor Smita had a real time of it and shes nearly 17 wks now! Good luck!

Jodi - Hope you are feeling better since what that awful(!) woman said! You are pregnant, which is a reason to celebrate. I do wonder sometimes if some people just cant be happy for others when things are going well for them because they arent happy in their own lives. Maybe it makes them feel better bringing others down. Anyway, enjoy your pregnancy!

Carlac - Fantastic news on the scan! Look forward to chatting on the 2nd tri.
