Congratulations Tilly - welcome to the club - enjoy every second, you deserve it.

Jacs - thanks for advice, can't believe I've done without baths for 12 weeks when I only needed to avoid for a few days!! I read your post with glee because there's nothing I fancy more than a nice soak - I'll just make sure its not too hot like you said. Don't panic about scan - I just wanted you to be aware that if you want a nuchal translucency scan (and lots of people don't bother with it) that it has to be between weeks 11-14. It's where they measure the fluid behind the baby's neck and check for nasal bone - it gives you a probability of chances of Downs or Spina Bifida and if you are high risk you can opt for an amnio test. It is supposed to be more successful than just relying on blood test (which can be done at week 16 onwards) or age risk. I've opted for a combined blood test and nuchal scan at week 13 because I'm concerned that if they only take my age (33 at birth) into account they will give me a mid-slightly raised risk but I'd rather have a little more info that will hopefully bring the risk down for a bit more reassurance. There's no necessity to have this scan - it's a personal thing really and you have to consider what you'll do if the scan shows high risk - me and DH have already said we'd do an amnio to be sure but if you're not sure on an amnio, it's probably best not to give yourself extra worry of scan. Does that make any sense? Anyway if you want the scan just ring GP or midwife and ask them to recommend a fetal imaging centre near you where NT scans are done or search on internet and just ring up and book (you have to pay private for these scams usually). Its quite a nice contact to make because these places often offer 3d scans for later in pregnancy etc so sometimes you can get discounts off later scans because you've already had one. Anyway hope that helps - good luck in getting some attention off your health service - we wait all this time to be pregnant and then nobody (NHS wise) seems that bothered about it until much further advanced - I was expecting trumpets playing on high but instead it was more like 'so you're pregnant, so what, get on with it, ring us if you're ill!'

As i am new to the first trimester, has anyone got any bits of wisdom, do's and dont's etc.

Im dying for a bath but the Zita West Book which i used a fair bit during the whole process states that if you get a BFP, to still avoid having baths.

Can anyone comment, as im dying for a bath.

P.S Went the Trafford Centre on Saturday and made our first purchase. Yes, a bit early i know, but couldnt resist. A Boots Bath Sponge costing £1.35.

Thanks

Hope the sickness passes soon.

Other than that, how are you feeling - I can't believe that you're nearly 10 weeks already!!

Big hugs

Hi girls, as im a novice to the 1st Trim can anyone clear up this query.
Our first scan is on Oct 6th, and we will discover if its one or two or maybe more. The 6th seems an age off but will just have to be patient. At least im back at work today, which cant be as bad as the 2WW.

Anyway, we have a trip booked - 4 nights in Barcelona on 15th Nov, at which point i will be about 10 weeks, but still wont have had that all important 12 week scan.

Am i okay to fly, as in noooooooooo way do i want to jeopardise anything.
Some websites seem to say its ok and others say no. Zita West says no.

Hope you can help.

Thanks

Wahoo Jacs welcome to the second tri !! :D
And I would suggest you call the clinic yourself if thats ok- just to nudge them a little.. cause as far as I know, the NT scan is to be done between 12 and 15 weeks- so check that out ok?

Tilly,
Good luck for the 6th!Its lovely and awe-inspiring to see the little heart beating..
Theres a thread started by michelle on the general forum as well - look in on it..

Joy,
honey, its sad you're having a tough time with the sickness but you know what, corny as this sounds, its better to have nausea in the cases of worry warts like us, than not- makes it seem more real..
I kept wishing for some nausea all thru my first tri..

Olivia, how're you?and hows your nausea?
Kerry, beth.. anyone I've missed..
take good care girls!

Jacs

Yeh - glad you're coming over to join us in Part 2 - well done!!

We're going away in November as well and I'll be 23-24 weeks pregnant. I spoke to the Midwife about this and she said as long as you drink water and get up and walk around there is no reason why you shouldn't go.

It's only a 4.5 hour flight!! What about yours?

Take care

Little P

hiya little p
were flying to miami and catching the ship at fort lauderdale...not sure how long the flight is about 9 hrs i think ...iv told my hubby ill have to have a isle seat so that i can get up and down a lot i dont normally get up much as i hate to disturb other ppl
im hoping we can get just 2 seats together on there own so then i can be more comfortable i dont suppose we will tho ...i have written to the cruise company told them about our great news after so long of trying and asked for a free upgrade no harm in asking i thought.
i am so looking forward to going away as we havnt been since last nov and i so glad my hubby booked a cruise now as its going to be so relaxing i just hope not to hot as its around the carrabian but it will be our last big holiday for a long time ..
where are u going ????
are u excited??

Tilly

The first scan link is on the General Forum - Michelle (of Scotland) has started a new thread for people newly pregnant who are awaiting their first scan there.

Good luck with everything.
