Hi november buddies, I am starting my second icsi cycle in Nov. (1st cycle -ve in 2002). I would love to join you guys and share and support each other.

Does anyone know whether is there any special food that would enhance the chances of implantation. I know I would sound silly but I just want to find out all that I could.

Hi Chel
Welcome aboard - most ladies will recommend reading the Zita West book - she has loads of tips on diet and ivf. Other than that healthy is the bets option and plenty of water.
Nicola - we will get there this time - so great to hear you're feeling well.
Hi becky - Yes I'm feeling great after the hols, so lovely to hear bump is doing well.
Just been for appt today - starting buserelin on friday and they're gonna do a scan next week to see how things are progressing.
here we go .... :D :D

Hi All!

Started downregging on 6th October (Last Thurs) and will be going for egg retreival w/c 7th November. So my 2ww is definitely in November.

I'm 41 and this is my first go at IVF after complications following a miscarriage 3 years ago (full story on the over 40s thread!).

I'm struggling to find a balance between "pma" and "getting my hopes up" as well. I don't know how to feel. I do know I pretty much never feel optomistic, although i quite like injecting myself because it makes me feell that "something's happenning".

I feel ill prepared, I haven't read any books so I will go for the Zita West one tomorrow, even though I'm beginning to pick up that she may spell the end of chocolate!

.....and why has work suddenly turned to chaos at the very time that I'm trying to be chilled out and at peace with myself!

Morning!

Hope everyone is well,

:) Thanks for all your kind words of encouragement - feeling a bit better now and ready for show down!!!!

Welcome Chel, Amfy and Gail!

I start downregging on Monday - anyone else start next week? I think I am a week behind you Amfy......

Just wondering - does anyone else find the 2 litres of water tough and does it count if you have it with squash (sugar free of course) to make it more interesting??? :?:

Also thought this was important to share - when we first started TTC my DH was smoking about 10-15 cigarettes a day - neither of us are big drinkers and we eat pretty healthily. When we found nothing was happening we went to the GP and they did the tests on us both. They found that DH had poor no.s, quality of sperm etc. Of course we'd heard that smoking has an impact on fertility, but we also know loads of people that smoke (and drink) like troopers and have kids no problem at all........ Anyway, when it was decided that we needed IVF, my DH decided that in order to give it (and any possible kids) the best possible chance that he would give up (that was about 8 months before our first IVF cycle). When we finally got the ER day and had to give the sperm sample to the clinic, we didn't think much of it until we got a call from the clinic the following day saying that they were shocked at just how much his sperm sample had improved from 8 - 9 months earlier..... :!:

I thought I would share that as it really showed me that the advice in the books, on this site etc really makes a difference and that I can have an impact (however small) on the likelihood of success......

Chel, Amfy and Gail. Good luck to u!

Sammylou, i dont think it matters if you have your water with squash. As long as it is sugar free.

Thx for sharing your "smoking" story with us. I only just stoped smoking so that really does encourage me. thx.

Smita, love your nov-embies sign.

Good idea doing a head count. Maybe we could add dates like start of down reg., start of stimulation, er, et and test and constantly update it? Or would that be too much?

Gosh there's big gang of us now!!
Smita - what an excellent banner - nov-embies - inspired!! :D
Sammy lou - I'm starting downregging on friday so its nearly next week - looks like we'll all be getting hot flushes at the same time. What a great story about the smoking too - well done DH.
Gail welcome - you'll be fine and do great I'm sure - I hope you're finding your feet with stuff now.
Amfy - I know what you mean about PMA and realism - I'm sitting on the fence on this one as I will be positive but not like my first time, I will be prepared for a poo outcome too.
Hi to Sally C too - the queen of emoticons :D
Hope all are doing well xx

Hi!

Penny - glad I'm not on my own with the hot flushes......last time I was downregging I felt great but my DH assures me that is not how I behaved (ooopppss)

Smita - thanks for doing the list - there really are quite a few of us now:

Image

Sally - good luck with the appointment - like your idea about the list of ER, ET etc.

If people want to send me their dates, I'll have a go at creating a calender.....

Image Also - well done on giving up the smoking - I know how hard my DH found it at first and I know its not the same magnitude but I find giving up red wine and chocolate hard enough (and I don't always succeed)!

I just had to add this smilie in - it is so cool.....
