Ghost & anyone else: beta question

Post by tc4474 »

Hi - my first beta 9dp5dt was 245 - we were so happy. My second beta today 11dp5dt was 455.

My doc is saying I don't need a third beta. My concern is that I thought it was supposed to double. Does anyone have any insight?

I checked out betabase and my numbers show I should double at 53 hours but the median is closer to 39. Maybe I'm just worried over nothing!

Thanks for any input!

Actually, it doesnt have to double in 48 hours. As long as it is like 66% then it is good. Your numbers seem great. They are strong and could possibly be twins. Although you can't tell until your ultrasound.

My clinic continues the tests awhile longer regardless of doubling. We do them along with the fist couple of ultrasounds, but many clinics don't. The ultrasounds are much more definitive, so some don't see any point in testing hCG at that point.

AmandaM is correct that doubling is not a formal rule. The analytically derived value I have seen was a factor of 1.6, which you exceeded. Still, higher and faster is generally better.

Best of luck.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.
