Post by jayne »

Hi everyone

I joined this amazing forum yesterday, I hope Im on the right page to post a message. My problem is trying to stay calm Ive heard its not good been stressed put whilst having icsi & my immotions just got carried away with me on my first cycle, was signed off of work for 6 weeks & was given beta blockers when it failed. I know the time is coming up for my second cycle in September, was wondering about having accupuncture or reflexology. open to any advice :?:
Had one failed cycle of icsi mar 04, will be having another fresh cycle sept 04. I have damaged tubes and my husband has anti bodies on his sperm (we are both broken) Been trying without any success for 7 long years. Both results negative

hi jayne

the best advice i got on this thread was to take one day at a time. Try and focus on the day ahead and do not worry about what can go wrong. IVF is a long journey that we have to travel but I feel it has made me a better person. I do not take anything for granted. Try and think about what you have got not what you have not got.

The best stress buster I have got is my dog's, they are great and when I get down i take them for a lovley walk and this really clears my head.

well welcome to the site and I really hope all your dreams come true in september.Remember one day at a time..

Hi Jayne, I'm glad you found the site, it really does help to share with others in the same boat.

I'll be cycling in September too and I know there are at least 2 others already, so we'll have a little group of cycle buddies to help and support each other as we go through.

Re. the stress. I've not tried either accupuncture nor reflexology but many on the board have and most seem to have liked it/felt it helped. After your first try, did you try any of the 'usual' stress busters to help? eg. yoga, meditation, jogging, other types of exercise, swimming?? Sorry if these always get suggested. I find doing nothing during the 2ww is a killer so have to keep busy. Otherwise I dwell and worry about everything. July Ann's suggestion of dog walking is a good one, they're a great excuse to have to go outside and do something. Can you borrow a dog if you don't have one? I would totally recommend getting a passive and lazy cat, who likes nothing more than sitting on your lap being stroked. Medically proven to reduce stress...might be worth a try  Lastly...do you know anyone who can teach you a new skill that you can do at home but really have to concentrate on? like painting, crochet, knitting, embroidery, playing the piano!! You need never do it again once you're pg!

Good luck,
Debra.

Hi Jayne,

I'm so glad you've found this board as I know I have found the girls an invaluable support when I have been cycling. It is an extemely stressful time and July Ann is right - one day at a time is definitely the best advice.

I am doing hypnotherapy this time round - mainly to overcome my fear of injections - but also hopefully it will teach me how to relax and stay calm during everything. I have only had 1 session so far and I really enjoyed it - I have another session next week when I start down-regging. I also quite like spoiling myself - a facial, pedicure or massage - it always cheers me up when I am feeling a bit stressed out or sorry for myself.

Don't worry about your treatment in September - we'll all be here to hold your hand if you need us. :)
