Re: March 2011 Miracle Babies!

I was wondering that myself. I'm 13.5 weeks, so on the border. I'm waiting until after my next doc appt. (just shy of 15 weeks) to let the cat out of the bag, although I'm going to a party tonight and I know my friends will think it's odd if I don't have a beer in my hand.

Oh - and I had a CVS done ...

Re: March 2011 Miracle Babies!

Hi Sunshine and stars,

I've given myself permission to look, but not to buy! I'm trying to hold off until later not just because I'm worried about a miscarriage, but also because I want to avoid buying summer clothes if possible and will try to wait until fall. It's unfortunate, but there are ...

Re: March 2011 Miracle Babies!

Hi All,

I've been lurking and am finally joining this thread! I'm due 3/22/11, so am 10 weeks 0 days today. I had an U/S at 6 weeks where we saw the heartbeat and one at 8 weeks where they measured the heartbeat and all is good so far and the baby is measuring on date.

I am 38 so I am going in for ...

Progesterone after Successful IVF

Hi All,

I am 8 weeks pregnant after a successful cycle and just found out at my RE visit this afternoon that he releases me after this visit and just wants me to take the progesterone for 4 more days, so through 8 wks, 4 days. Was anyone else let off of the progesterone this early? Also, they have ...

Re: Summer cycle group

Hi Sonya,

I am so very sorry to hear your news. My condolences to you and your husband. I hope your RE can give you some insight into why this has happened and what you can do to hopefully get a different outcome next time.

Re: DH says NO to more than one...

Single embryo transfer (SET) has been shown to be just as successful as transferring more than one embryo in ultimately getting a person pregnant. However, it may take longer - essentially, doing single transfers fresh plus frozen from that cycle gets you pretty close to the pregnancy rate of ...

Re: Remind me... DH has to abstain for how long?

They had my husband ejaculate and discard the night of the trigger, too (both times), so essentially 36 hours before the transfer. Not sure if they change that if there are any sperm issues (low count, low motility, etc.).

Re: What week does your clinic do a first u/s?

I'm actually a little unclear as to how a miscarriage shows up if you've done IVF. Doesn't the progesterone basically prevent you from bleeding? And if so, how do you know you're miscarrying?

Re: What week does your clinic do a first u/s?

Hi Sonya -

Yes, I read about your blighted ovum and am so sorry. I think it's probably easier to handle a BFN than to get further along and get your hopes up and then have them dashed. I was grateful my chemical was pretty obvious from the start, and didn't drag on for too long.

This was a fresh ...

Re: Can it be implantation bleeding?

I think you can have a little spotting from the transfer itself, since they do have a catheter up there. Also, my doc told me they use iodine to cleanse the cervix or something like that, and that I might leak that after the procedure. Iodine is orangey-brownish.

Re: What week does your clinic do a first u/s?

Hi Sonya,

Congrats on your BFP! I think we did our first IVFs at the same time this winter (I had a chemical). Anyway, I now have a BFP too, and my U/S will be at 6 weeks exactly. My nurse told me to make an appt any day the week of July 26, which would be anywhere from 5 weeks 6 days to 6 weeks 3 ...

Re: implantation and other questions

Hi Amanda,

Did the clinic seem disappointed in the results? I see all of the women posting on here with 20+ eggs, whereas at my clinic, I got 16 last time and then this cycle they dialed down my stim meds. I asked how may they aim for, and they said 8-10. I'm 38 (also secondary infertiliy - sucks ...

Tania, it is great to see you're feeling better!

Sonya - 7dp5dt is definitely early, and those lines are still getting darker - I think you're in good shape!

As for me, as expected, I have a chemical pregnancy. My beta on Wed was 13.8 and now it is at 9.7. Unfortunately, they still want me to ...

Hi Tania,

I am so sorry to hear about your BFN. IVF takes so much out out of you, physically and emotionally, that it is tough to feel you went through it for nothing. But the psychologist at my IVF center said before we started, even a failed cycle can get you closer to your goal. They learn from ...
