Hi Ladies

as promised popping in after Nuchal scan. Wont get the "statistical probability" until next week  that's cos we had the gynae do it and didn't go to the uni clinic where they charge a fortune, but since we only get the results for info it doesn';t matter waiting a bit. Anyway everything looks very good, all measure ments way within normal limits so with a 26 year old donor, and super normal measurements (neck transparency was 0.8mm so a lot less than the dreaded 3mm), our gynea says not to worry. So they will combine it all with bloods and give us a numbetr later, but as sweety was boogie woogying away the whole time which just made me laugh my socks off which made her boogie more it was all in all a great experience :D :D   dh didn't know what was going on the the gynae got the giggles too  we also saw that sweetie has five fingers on each hand and she was waving them around like flippers the whole time   She still looks like an alien though, but an alien that I am totally in love with :D She is big for dates, 7,5cm, and with all bits measured showing 13+4 (my official ICSI date is 12+6 today) so it is reckoned she will be a whopper  apparently this is determined by the gestational mum not the donor mum...interesting my sis had 10 pounders ....

Gregmbarry, congrats and welcome, I too have fluctuating booby tenderness, and they didn't grow until about week 8 - now they are huge and tender..last time I was hugs and tender from the start so it just shows it can change even with the same person, so don't worry sweetie.

LP, yeh well had to have the same ticker as always, couldn't change that! Should have kicked th e drugs by end of next week, gynae said keep the ultrogestan (pessaries) and the divigel (oestrogen gel) to week 16 as for autoimmune ladies Dr Beer says support to week 16 is advised, but that's a real belt and braces I think. Gynae says sweetie wouldn't be so big for dates if placenta wasn't spanking healthy so that's what counts.

Tsippora - glad you got a scan when you were worried, it's always best to check as worrying can also just waste your energy and worry little bubs too. Jogging   wouldn't have thought that was a good idea, I mean I am sure if you are used to it it's allowed but it must be uncomfortable?? why not try Nordic walking or something less jumpy??? careful to keep heart rate reasonable too..Zita has good tips on exercise limits. I am high risk pg so only just been given green light for swimming (only bak and floating) and otherwise have been doing oong wlaks for stamina dn circulation so I am a wimp

Caroline - I KNOW w  hat you mean - I was very nauseaous up to week 12 ish, then felt sick cos of pain in neck (literally) but was never sick, now neck is better and I have started feeling really sick, no paetite and actually been sick a couple of times. gynae said apart from other things could just be the sphincter is softer so stuff comes up easier, but I thoughta I was going to lose my brekkie in the drs today..YUK Drinking cold water with lime juice in is my slavation at the moment, and peppermint tea. I want to BLOOM GRRRR Poor old you, psecial hug for you. BTW what meds are you on then???????

MandyB - I am just so lucky as I am in Germany so we have a "Frauenarzt" like a gynae practice where they have 3 ultrasound machines, and 7 dostors and the practice have a policy of weekly scans in 1st Tri for high risk 40+ pg's or where MC history etc. I'll be doing 2 weekly scans once off meds but have one a week for the next 2 weeks still so I ama very LUCKY GIRL  (all on my insurance I have to add  ). I know what you mean about age thing, I sometimes think the drs (like my orthopaedic guy who looked after my slipped disc thing) think I have a cheek being pg atall at 42  My gynae is wonderful though.... We had Nuchal scan and it was fantastic. There was so much detail, and it gives lots of info about the fetal health, placental health etc if nothing lse it has calmed me down and made me feel happy for the first time that I am pg, and can start to enjoy it. I don't have the "number" yet, the scan alone (lasted 30 mins) was more than enough to reassure me and gynae that things look good so far, much more thorought than a quick inand out job that I nomally get on the weekly scans.

Kagome - how are you doing honey???????

So I think on that note I will go over to the 2nd tri board, if I had my way I'd stay here til sweetie starts school  will be keepinmg an eye on you all though..

love and hugs and happy 1st tri to everyone

ANGEL, YOU AND I ARE IN THE SAME BOAT! HOWEVER, I AM SCARED TO DEATH. WE HAVE OUR FIRST SCAN ON MONDAY, I WILL BE 6WEEKS AND 1 DAY. I HAVE NOP SYMPTOMS AND KEEP TAKING THE HOME TESTS BUT THE POSITIVE SIGN IN NEVER REALLY DARK ENOUGH FOR ME TO BELIEVE! I HAVE MY FINGERS CROSSED FOR THEBOTH OF US. IT WOULD BE SO COOL TO ACTUALLY SEE SOMETHING GROWING!

TISPORRIA, JOGGING, MY GOSH I CAN'T GET OFF OF THE COUCH WHEN I GET HOME FROM WORK!! I WOULD PROBABLY HAVE A HEARTATTACK IF I FUNCTIONED LIKE THAT. THE DOC SAYS IT'S JUST MY MEDS AND I SHOULD BE HAVING SOME ENERGY SOON!

Hi Angel and Jelly bean (1&2 :D )

best of luck with the scans tomorrow and next week - your little beans will amaze you :D No can't feel baby yet - normally that starts arund wk 16 - but I am sure you are already getting "growing pains" or twitches and a heavy feeling. I had that to about week 9 then it went and it's just started again with avengance. No wonder when you think the sac will already be quite big, and your womb is also much bigger than normal.

thinking of you, let us know how it goes

btw Tsippora - I checked in my books and Miriam Stoppard and Zita West are not for Jogging or bouncy exercise as it strains the joints and ligaments that are softening due to the hormones....so do be careful dear

hugs

10 weeks tomorrow...

Post by tsippora »

Hi guys,

Big J, thanks for looking up the jogging info. I used to run 15 miles per week before treatment so a slow mile was pretty light for me. That said, I have gotten out of shape so it wasn't easy, and my stomach felt too bloated the other night to try it again. The only reason I did it is that my doctor insisted that jogging was fine so long as you were used to it before pregnancy, and I have a few friends who jogged up until 5 ms! I figure they place plenty of true restrictions on us, why add my own? Then again, I am pretty nervous about the whole thing (Gregm, hearing you miscarried at 10 weeks particularly hit me hard!) so I agree with you. No more jogging.

I'm so glad many of you are moving onto the 2nd tri thread and I really hope to see you there!

Love,

Tsippora

hi guys
tsiporra , i also used to run 10k , under an hour 2wce a wk, BUT ivf unit & midwife so no go. i really , really miss feeling in control of my cardio and health and for me it was a great de streser. all my younger girly friends are doing the brest cancer runs and charity runs without me this year and i have had to cancel my skiing trip as i will be 4 months. ( not really about skiing so much as lack of oxygen....) HOWEVER what will keep you going is what i am doing , give yourself a target for after baby , i will be upto 5k in 30 mins by 6 months and 10k by 12 months after birth AND already told hubby Canada ,Banff Chateau Fairmont is waiting for us with a 7 month old baby next Feb/March!!!! Its only 8 months out - not too bad and ours bodies are working v.hard at the moment - just watch your eating!!!! xxxxx ( thought i might look into Yoga - anybody got any ideas- what type of classes etc....)
good luck jellybean2 and angel with there scans , let us know how they go.....
taylorjools i have my nuchal scan this saturday, hope your stats are good let us know....

hi girls,
glad to hear everyone is doing good!!!! what is the nuchal scan that all of you are talking about? i don't recall my nurses telling me about this scan? i am totally freaked out about my scan on monday. this will be our first to see how many really took! i am bitting my nails off! i feel pretty confident, i think, because i had three blood tests done that doubled every other day (HCG Levels) but they have not done one of those in two weeks! i have been pg before , but don't remember how far along i was so that i know what symptoms i should have. i don't have any so i am a bit cautious about going to the scan on monday! i will be 6wks1day!!! i read that the heart is already pumping it own blood, eyes, legs, and hands have begun to develop, brain waves are detectable, mouth& lips are present and the fingernails are staring to for! this is absolutely amazing to me, how science and medicine can do this for people like us, who struggle to bring life into this world! it is awesome!

i am so sorry, i realize you all seem to check on everyone throughout the website, i really only vent about myself! i am soooo sorry. my husband and i are the only ones that know, so i need an escape somewhere, and i picked you girls!!!!

thanks for listening and any responses, i look forward to reading about you guys everyday on my lunch break this is keeping me kinda sane!
best of luck to us all!

Hi J...B...2

just a quick reply - nuchal scan is done between 12 and 13 weeks. It measures the thickness (of fluid, I think) at the back of the baby's neck and this gives a likelihood of Downs or other problems. Usually done in conjunction with a blood test, and is 90% accurate... so it would inform you and perhaps then lead to you being offered an amnio test.

Btw, I didn't get any symptoms 'til week 8, but you'll know it when you get it!!!

Take care,
Caroline xx

Hi Everyone!

I had my second blood test - which would have been 24 DPO and my level is 5470! On a calculator online it figured a doubling time of 50 hours. Now I can breathe a sigh of relief and wait until my first ultrasound on the 21st. By then I'll be 7 weeks and hopefully will see a heartbeat!!!!

Thanks to you all so much for the support so far - it's really meant a lot to hear what you've all been through and to know I'm not alone!!!

Hi everyone!

Post by Melinda »

I am in my 5th week and have my first ultrasound next week on Feb 15th. I am a worry wart, so I'll probably be on this site alot in the next few months. I read in a book that your heart can race when pregnant. Can anyone confirm this or is it my nervousness at the exciting news? :?:

Dawn- Good luck with your ultra sound on Feb 13th. I go 2 days after and want to hear all about it.

Big J- Loved your pink pill story, LOL. I always worry that I'll wake up in the morning and think my suppository is a vitamin and swallow it by mistake. too funny.

Looking forward to talking to all of you in the next few months.

MELINDA, I TOO AM A WORRY WART!!! I AM MAKING MYSELF SOOO NERVOUSE WITH HAVING MY FIRST SCAN. YOU AND I SEEM TO BE AT EXACTLY THE SAME STAGE. I HAVE HAD THREE BLOOD TESTS THAT CONFIRMED THERE IS SOMETHING GOING ON IN THIS BODY OF MINE, HOWEVERI DON'T KNOW IF IT IS DISBELEIF OR THE LACK OF SYMTOMS THAT HAVE ME SO WORRIED. MY HEART IS NOT RACING, BUT I AM EXTREMELY EXHAUSTED AND MY BLADDER LOWER STOMACH HURTS IN TH EAM WHEN I HAVE TO PEE!

LET'S KEEP IN TOUCH, I WILL DEFINATELY LET YOU KNOW HOW THWE SCAN GOES ON MONDAY, IT'S GONNA BE A LONG WEEKEND! GOOD LUCK WITH EVERYTHING

GREGMBARRY... CONGRATS, SOUNDS LIKE YOU ARE DEFINAELTY CARRING SOMETHING! GOOD LUCK TO YOU, HOW FAR ALONG ARE YOU BY THE WAY?
