jen1d - oh hun....i so wish i could do something to help you and make you feel better. massive hugs!! xxx
JB - welcome back and glad everything went smoothly!!!! ooohhhh, hope this 2ww passes as quickly as it can for you!
pequele - not long until your BFP!!

so sorry to hear about your ankle. what are you like?! lol...how is it now?? you poor thing!!
icsi girl - oh yes, i remember the upset moments when natural AF came. there is always that glimmer of hope, especially after all the miracles we read on here (right, rachel?

) so yes, it's completely normal to be like this. but you just have to try and stay positive that one day this will happen (i know its easier said than done). x
angel - as for your questions...every clinic is different but i'll tell you about my experience:
1) I was told that I will be on burselin inj. I hate needles. How easy is it to inject yourself?
the first one is always the worst. i was scared stiff and threw a tantrum (literally) as i was holding the needle in my hand ready to inject. i was adement (spelling) that i wanted to do them myself as i was worried dh might not be around when i need the jab. once i got over that initial jabbing, i was more than fine!!! it's such a small needle that it's like a very small pinch!!! less hurt than a blood test! i also used the pen but had to draw up my meds with a proper injection for the trigger shot. but even thats fine. i promise!! I'm just scared that I won't do it right and then the medication will have no effect on me.
its very difficult to get it wrong. i thought i once did my trigger wrong but retrospectively i know i didnt. its very hard to get it wrong. as long as you leave the needle in for about 5 seconds you'll be fine. and dont panic if a tiny bit spills out, thats normal too!! Also is there an alternative way of taking the drugs?
i dont think so....my downreg drug was a nasal spray so you could ask if that is available. but as for the stimming drugs i think it has to be jabs i'm afraid!
2) What is the approx cost of IVF drugs here. Do you pre order or just walk into any pharmacy?
depending on how many you need and what dose they are going to put you on. we were charged about £600 for each cycle's drugs but that was because i was on the lowest dose. they warned us that the drugs can cost anything btw £600 and £1000. as for where you purchase them...we were given a leaflet for a private company by the hospital and were told to use that. so we did, and they delivered the drugs within a couple of days.
3) How often do the scans take place?
once i started stimms, i had a scan about 8 days later. with my first ivf thats the only scan i had and they triggered me a couple of days later so no more scans for me. for my second cycle though, i had the scan after the 8 days, then another one 2 days later (and then possibly another one the day after that but cant remember for definite).
4) After the procedure, how soon can you get back into the routine of things? I have this horrible picture that the embryo will not attach because I walked around too much. The doc said that usually you need 3 days of complete rest.
every clinic is very different here and you may want to read the sticky thread on the general forum at the top "do's and dont's" as really every clinic varies. some suggest bedrest and others dont. my clinic did not suggest bedrest although i decided to take it easy the day of ET. apart from that i carried on pretty much as normal. with my first cycle i took the whole 2 weeks after ET off work and just pottered around the house. but with my second cycle i did everything as normal after ET (except for day of ET).
as for what you should and shouldnt do....with my first cycle i did everything that i could do make it work. i gave up alcohol, all caffeine, all crappy foods, etc for about 3 months before we started and during the cycle. i also did accupuncture and reflexology and generally did everything you are meant to do. for me, i needed to do this so that i couldnt blame myself for anything if it didnt work. and as the first one didnt work, i'm glad i did all those things as i would have looked to myself for blame otherwise.
however, for my second cycle i decided to limit things but not cut them out. i figured if i did everything by the book first time round and it doest work then why do it second time? i figured that, for example, by cuttng out caffeine completely i stressed myself unnecessarily as i just need that cup of coffee in the mornings to get me going. so for the second cycle i decided to have my cup of coffee in the morning but then none for the rest of the day. same with alcohol. after a hard week at work, all i sometimes wanted is a glass of wine on a friday night. so i decided to have that odd glass of wine (except in my 2ww). the way i see it is, if cutting out certain things actually adds to your stress, then dont do it. you can cut down but you dont have to give up.
anyway, i know its fairly controversial and people wont agree but that would be my main tip. do what you feel is best but try not to drive yourself mad. (althoug its easier said than done!)
carolyn - where are you honey?? i know your motto throughout your cycles is to keep as busy as poss but hope you're ok. miss ya! xx
rachel - oohh, good luck with your midwife app tomorrow. how exciting!! also, pls let me know how you get on with the doppler. as for m/s, it's slowly going although i still have nausea in the mornings. not bad though. good for you for starting xmas shopping. we've bought a couple of pressies but nothing else.
hi to everyone else!!!!
becky, aunty, nimble, gill, etc!!!!
