Hi all,
Hope everyone is doing fine, in spite of sleeping problems and heavy bellies. Now I realized that I am the "youngest" mom in our thread - the oldest in age, for sure! It has been nice to read everyone's experiences. I worry a lot less about not being able to feel them moving after realizing that the real kicks won't come before the 20th week!
Stefanie, I didn't do CVS or amnion. My Brazilian doctor and the perinatologist thought it would be too risky. I don't regret following their advice - I wouldn't "reduce" anyways...plus serious abnormalities that can be addressed by intra-uterus surgery (heart conditions, ect) can be identified with u/s.
SilverAngel, you must the thrilled with the boy/girl combo! I am practicing breathing meditation to go back to sleep sooner after I wake up to change position, then pee, then drink water. I was playing sudoku before but that takes precious minutes of my sleep...Hope you find a way of making yourself comfortable and go back to sleep realy soon.
Crogers, I imagine you joy and DH amazement at the sudden punch of a baby's limb! Enjoy every bit...I mean, every beat!
Stephjim, you are almost there! Please let us know when you pack and go to the maternity! I wish you a calm, healthy delivery - maybe you still have one or two weeks of restful wait :)
Babyloves, I have experienced numbness in my arms; same in my previous pregnancies. I think it is some change in the way nerves behave during the pregnancy - we walk differently, we probably have different postures...that may cause some strain or bad circulation even on some areas. I try to move positions frequently during the night. I hope you feel better!
Best wishes to all,
Literatriz

Hey ladies!
I got an exciting update today from my surrogate! She is a little over 20 weeks now and her cervix is measuring 4.7cm so I am soo happy. Hopefully between now and her next appointment which is in 4 weeks it won't shorten too much. Our babies are still a boy and girl and they are weighing 12 and 13 ounces! Yay! I'm so excited for them to get here!

For those of you who have the heavy feeling stomach, my surrogate just bought a maternity belt and she says it's a life saver. It makes such a difference. Her belly feels much less heavy. She was also getting lots of braxton hicks and now they have pretty much stopped.

silverangel-We found out too when we were 13 weeks that our babies were most likely a boy and girl, and sure enough, here we are at 20 weeks and they are definitely a boy and girl! I bet you are so excited!!

I'm sorry I was off the thread - I was in DC on business again and stared bleeding. BLEEDING fire engine red blood, like crazy. I hopped a cab to the emergecy room and luckily my best friend and sister (who is a nurse midwife) met me there.

The ER staff was awful and told me if I was miscarrying I should just lie there as there was nothing they could do. I waited 2 hours for an ultrasound. When he finally came (nice guy) we found two heartbeats and healthy ones.

by the end of the night the blood went brown and I passed some kind of tissue.

DH drove right down from NYC, we spent the night at sisters and drove home today. I am on pelvic rest. (no lifting, no sex, no strenuous anything)

I have my CVS tomorrow, and we'll see whether or not he decides to go through with it.

It was pretty dramatic. There was a lot of blood. but I am so very thankful. My sister and best friend got to see the babies with me which was fun. they were moving and waving and mooning us. hilarious.

Hopefully tomorrow will show the same thing. The on call doc from my OB's office, said the guy doing my CVS is the best and he absolutely won't go forward if there is danger of more bleeding.

My sister thinks I had a clot that passed.

Okay, that's my drama for the week. Also, I'm 11 weeks and SHOWING. it is impossible to hide my condition anymore.

update

Post by stefanie »

i went in today for the CVS test. and am now on modified bed rest. The NT scan looked good and now I just have to take it easy all week and not lift anything. keep good thoughts. I guess I'm in another 2ww to hear the results and finally be out of the first trimester. That will be a big milestone for me.

The twins were dancing and kicking and looked good and big which gave me hope.

Wow Stefanie,
Sounds like a stressful and scary weekend! I can;t believe the hospital staff would tell you that you are miscarrying without knowing for sure! That's awful! I'm so glad that everything came out ok. It does sound like a blood clot. I know it's very very common to bleed in twin pregnancies. I'm so happy for you that everything turned out alright and that the babies were dancing for you. How exciting! You are just about out of the scary first trimester. That's wonderful!!!! Congratulations!!!

Thanks Carisa!

yeah. They went ahead and did my CVS test on monday, which of course brought on more bleeding. I am sofa bound for the week and no more lifting for me. at all. not even making the bed.

DH deserves an award. His grandmother died the day I ended up in the ER and he got in the car after work (after being away on business for 2 days and being exhausted) and drove from NYC to DC to get me and make sure I was okay. He then drove me home, did my laundry, grocery shopped, cooked cleaned and hasn't stopped. I am truly blessed.

Any one else break the news in any creatine ways?

Hello all! Dh and I have started our baby classes and tonight was our last breastfeeding class. It was only 2 nights but I learned so much. I didn't realize what really went into feeding a baby. We also started a baby class that teaches you how to take care of the baby when you get home. It was fine but so much of it was common sense that we are not going back to the next one. I know I don't know a lot but I have taken care of my nieces and nephews so much that I have an idea. Anyways I was wandering if anyone was taking any classes like these? We start our labor and delivery class in 2 weeks and it goes for 5wks. I am really excited about this one because it goes through lamaze and then a c-section so you get all the information. We decided to do all these soon in case I was on bed rest or just to big to feel comfortable in a long class.

Does anyone know whether they prefer to breast feed or formula feed? I am going to try and breast feed and really hope I can. I learned so much about how good our breast milk is for our babies, but I am not going to beat myself up if I can't for some reason. It will be here before we know it.

Well I officially feel like if I grow anymore in my tummy that it will split open! I feel so tight and I have a ways to go still. 22 wks is over half way there but that doesn't make my tummy feel any better. I went to Dr. yesterday and I have gained 17 lbs. all together. Dr. said that was right on and if I was gaining to much then she would let me know. We are going in tomorrow for an u/s and I am so excited. I love to see them move around and get all the information I can. Have a great weekend everyone!!

hey -

We will definitely do a brithing class, and we will do it in the second trimester so that we will have it in case I am put on bedrest or deliver prematurely. But hopefully I will have a normal vaginal birth. right?

We are also going to sign up for infant CPR classes. My sister had premature twins that were on hear monitors for a year. I want to feel confident about that stuff. I have to look into that at our local red cross.

Stefanie-So sorry you are sofa bound. I'm so glad everything turned out ok for you, what a relief!! It does sound like you have a great husband there. Don't you feel so lucky? My husband is great too.

Silverangel-That video is great!! How fun! I wish we could have done something like that. Unfortunately, everyone and their mother knew that we were doing IVF/surrogacy, and that we transferred two embryos. Of course people who don't know much about IVF just assume that because we transferred two embies that both would take. So there wasn't much surprise for our loved ones. It was for us though!! Did you parents know yet that you were having twins before the video?

Crogers-We are using formula because we are doing surrogacy, but while they are in the hospital our surrogate will pump for us so they get those first nutrients. You definitely shouldn't beat yourself up if for some reason you can't end up breastfeeding for long. My sister dried up after only about two weeks, so her son had to have formula. I wish I could breastfeed. I was told I could get a shot to make myself produce milk, but my dh and I decided to just use formula. Wow, 22 wks, that's great. MY surrogate is now a little over 21 weeks, and her stomach is huge!!! I don't know how she will have room to grow more, it's pretty amazing! How is your cervix holding up?

Carisa- my cervix seems to be holding up just fine, no problems that I know of. My doctor didn't check me on Tuesday but today I am getting an u/s so I will get to see all the measurements and good stuff. Can they tell if something is going on with my cervix on an u/s? Just wandering.

Hi everyone,

Hope you guys didn't forget about me!!! Been a while since I was here. We were dealing with a lot of emotions deciding on reduction or not. Long story short, me and the trips are doing great! Almost 14 weeks.

Literaz, so glad you said that about the soccer ball. I have been telling DH how tight my belly feels sometimes.

As for the CVS question, we had it done on 2 of them. THey could not safely get to baby a. Baby b was done vaginally which was fine. Baby c was done through the belly and that hurt like hell. Never again.

Glad to be back. Take care all.
