Hi there girls, hope you all had a lovely weekend. Have you all done your Christmas shopping/ cards yet? I put up my Christmas tree and decorations over the weekend, and it looks lovely if I can say so myself :)

We had our office Christmas party over the weekend - it was a posh black tie event with a 4 course meal. Started off with a champagne reception with a pianist playing in the background. With me having put on loads of weight with tmt plus me being a pig and comfort eating, I felt so frumpy in my nice dress. Dinner was not that great as I got stuck sitting next to a really boring person who wanted to talk about work all night, yuck! But the evening got better after that. Our team is going out for the local christmas meal this week. This is so not going to help me lose any weight….

Miracle - if you are going to have a word with the bosses, please please come and have a word with mine first. Better still whack him one on the head please. I'm soo annoyed. I'm not going to bore you with all the details, but in spite of knowing everything and promising me full support in line with the staff handbook he is stressing me out as a deadline approaches and expecting too much. I could only do that kind of work if I was 100% ok and even then would have to work all sorts of hours. How did the bbq go? And how are your furbabies??? I hope you managed to find some time to rest and take care of yourself.

Sophie - congrats on a boy. Does that mean you are going to start doing up the nursery now?

Becky - hope all goes well for the scan tomorrow. Its great that you managed to get one early. The pains are probably the little one(s) snuggling in tight. Let us know as soon as you find out.

ICSI - hi sweetie. Did you have a good weekend? How is DH and his job hunting. You work too hard!!!!!!!!

Carolyn - thinking of you as you have your appointment. Hopefully it is warm in Barcelona. Cant wait to hear how it went.

ANGEL!!!! my dear sweet ANGEL!!!!!! oh it is SO lovely to see you hun :D and you sound so well........... i'm doin' ok....thanks for asking... dh still driving me crazy!!! he's busy applying for jobs - but so far, no great leads.....i'm thinkin with it being end of the year and holiday time and all ---- he probably won't hear much of anything until the new year...

I can't believe that all you gals across the pond have employers that host these "posh" christmas parties!!! over here in the states --- you're lucky to get a fricken candy cane let alone a posh evening on the town!!! in fact - let me share with you what MY direct work group is doing (NOT my company....just our group) we are meeting a local restaurant (not POSH by ANY stretch of the imagination.....jeans and sneakers will be the norm!!) and having drinks/dinner ------ that we must each pay for ourselves.....how 'bout that for a merry christmas!!!??? oh lets not forget all the employers over here in the states who are wanting to do the politically correct thing in not "honoring" ANY holidays on account of our melting pot of religions ---employers are afraid that somebody will be offended and so they just don't do anything!!! oh well......

so good to see you girl

After the posh do, I have my team Christmas lunch (3 course meal) in central London plus a morning of "team meeting" in the morning which basically means a day of not working. AND I also have to go for DH's Christmas meal. Can I just add that its all paid for and the only money I will have to fork out is for the drinks after the meal should I decide to go along.

Hmm......do you girls want to trade places??? I'd rather hide my fat self at home and sit under the duvet watching silly tv programmes and feeling sorry for myself. Gosh I have become sooo anti -social!

Miracle - I totally forgot to say how pleased I was to hear about you moving into your new home. That is fantasctic. Have you got everything in its place now? Does that mean you have an extra room for us girls across the pond (until your baby arrives that is).

2009 is going to be our year.

Hello sunshines!

Wow, lots of energetic ladies this morning! Exactly what I need! The weather is really gloomy here today!

Carolyn,
Thinking of you sweetie, and I'm a bit jealous that you're in Spain, although I know you're not there as a tourist... wish you could buy flamenco shoes for me... but enough selfish talk, I hope the clinic treats you well and I can't wait to hear what you have to say about it when you come back!

Miracle!
LOL thanks for your comments about my furbabies, but THEY'RE MINE! Although these days, I'd happily trade my girl... geez I don't know what's her problem lately, but she started munching on stuff again... it's mostly her. She teared a dish cloth apart two nights ago, and she started munching on the corridor's carpet... not to mention her blankie... and my oven mits... the problem is that she literally EATS the fabric! On the other hand, the dogs started to sleep together... oh my, I should carry my digital camera with me at all times; yesterday, my boy slept with an arm around her! And this morning, they were cuddling back to back!

Oh, and don't worry about not going to the party. If your friend is indeed a friend, she'll understand. You can't force yourself, and you can't make yourself go through a really bad time just because you want to be polite. You're not Bree van de Kamp! ;) I'm really happy to hear that you had a great time with your sis. Did you stuff your faces with the cookies you baked last weekend? ;)

Stephanie!
Hello there!!! It's so great to have news my dear! How are you doing? Do you have anything planned for the Holidays? Oh, I have mixed feelings about being halfway... part of me likes being pregnant and doesn't want it to end, and part of me is SUPER excited to hold that baby in my arms... I think it's the norm, lol!

Angie!
Nice to hear from you girlie! :D I hear you on the workload... whew, it's a rush before the Holidays! SO happy I gave myself a treat with time off from the 24th to the 5th! :D And DH's company closes during that period so we'll be together! Yahoo! Your comments about boys being easier craked me up! I'm not too sure about that sweetie! Boys tend to be more hyperactive than girls! Hey come on, I'm a shrink, I can handle drama queens and big bundles of emotions, but hyperactivity? Mmmmmh that remains to be seen! ;) No, seriously, I don't mind. My brother was the sweetest little boy, he's still extra sweet even as a teenager now. My sisters are super nice too. I think it has a lot to do with parenting styles, the atmosphere at home, the life events people have to go through, and such. I'll give that little the boy the best I can do and we'll see what happens! ;) Give my best to Murphy who'll be really pretty for Xmas! :D

As for me, the weekend was gone in a heartbeat as usual. I had a great time though. Did the usual chores on Saturday. Then on Sunday morning, DH left early to walk the dogs in the woods. In the meantime, I get up and get ready, and then I cook a nice brunch. Lately, I've been doing that super nice pancake recipe:

1 1/2 cup flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp sugar
3 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla
3 tbsp melted butter
1 1/4 milk
1 egg

Whisk the dry ingredients together first, then add the wet and mix well. Spoon on a hot pan (I use the 1/4 cup cup). Just be careful you cook them at a medium-low temperature because they'll cook real fast.

So when my husband came back from his walk, all cold and with tired furbabies, we ate pancakes together. We had a great time! Then I called my best friend, who is going through a rough time. She has to take it easy right now because her cervix is very soft, shortened and partially open on the outside. She had a reliable tests that says she won't go into labor for the next 3 weeks, but those physical signs, plus the painless contractions she's been having, are a warning nevertheless. I'm really proud of her because she's staying quite calm and she's not panicking, but I feel for her and I hope the situation will be really stable from now on. The baby is viable, but it would be severly premature... I'm happy, though, that her condition forced her to take 2 weeks off and rest at home. She really needed that.

Other than that, I finished the Xmas decorations! And I sewed some curtains. I worked until 11pm (gah!) and the lower hem still has to be done, but I was able to hang them and see how they look like yesterday evening. It's really lovely, and it blends really well with the colors of the room! I'm quite happy with my choice of fabric! Too bad the fabric was expensive... because I would like to sew the same curtains for the closet. We removed all the old doors during the renovations, but we still don't have the budget to replace the 4 closet doors (we have to buy them in real, non jointed pine, then stain and varnish them). Thankfully, I have cream-colored Ikea curtains that will look just fine. In fact, I just realized that I might have fun sewing or gluing felt appliques (ladybugs, mushrooms, forest animals) on it! I'll probably do that with my sisters next time they visit!

...and I baked lots of goodies... a vegan chocolate cake TO DIE FOR (oh my GOD), a traditional Quebec "meat" pie (vegetarian) called "tourtiere" and some sugar-hazelnut rolls with the pastry leftovers... oh, the nice smells in my kitchen! Oh, the pile of dishes I had to wash! ;) Ah, well, it was worth it! Now the key is to make it last all week!

Okay ladies, take care and I'll see you around!

Hi Sophie,

I too made pancakes over the weekend and they turned out quite nice. Had them with lots of fresh berries.......yummy. Are you vegetarian?

All this talk of food has made me seriously hungry. My stomach is growling real loud; so embarrassing,

WHOA! Lots of people posted while I was writing my novel; I have to do more personals!

Becky,
So sorry your body is giving you scares again...! You,d think once we finally get there it would give us a break!!!!! *HUGS* I know there's not much I can say to ease your anxiety sweetheart, but do know thatyour body has carried TWO babies to term before and it knows what to do. It will do all it can to nurture this one/these ones. And right now, it needs to grow to accomodate your baby(ies) and pain is super common at those stages, even if it's down right scary each time it happens! I'm keeping EVERYTHING crossed (yeah, even my eyes!) so tomorrow's scan gives you the reassurance you need! I hope you'll see many healthy heartbeats! *HUGS* thinking of you sweetie.

Angel,
You're an absolute sweetheart! Thanks for your post, it really touches me!! We've started the nursery a couple of months ago because we want to spread the expenses as much as possible, and also because I'll sew a lot of things.

Oh, I,m a bad girl when it comes to Xmas cards! I ALWAYS end up writing them at the last minute! Your Xmas party sounded really fancy! Oh, I love posh parties once in a while... lets you use those dresses you can't wear very often and it's a great excuse to get pampered by your hair stylist! ;) It's really too bad that you weren't in good company for the meal... and, despite what you said, I'm sure you looked LOVELY in your nice dress! Hey, you still fit in it, isn't it a good sign? ;) I'm so sorry to hear that you're still working really hard with little support from your boss. If Miracle agrees to smack him behind the head, I want to give it a go too! ;) Oh, and one last thing... COMFORT FOOD ROCKS! Heck, indulge my sweet Angel, and don't feel guilty! That's what the Holidays are for!

I hear the others on the cheap Xmas parties in North America (you do realize, USA girls, that there's other countries don't ya?) You should have seen the food at my department's party! SHEESH! A plate of the classic no-crust sandwich triangles, plus a plate of cherry tomatoes filled with tabouleh (those were good though), a cheeze plate with a crackers plate, and one appetizer plate. And by "Plate", I literally mean your normal-sized dinner plate! Oh, and let's not forget the two boxes of red and white wine! ;)

Oh, but my husband's company, it's another story. He is a chemist and researcher for a pharmaceutical company. For the last two or three years, they stopped inviting the partners and spouses... but before that, they used to invite us all to nice restaurants and we'd party part of the night. It was really lovely. What I also LOVE is the Diwali and Chinese New Year party they organise. Lately, the restaurant picks were a bit bleh, but I have super good memories of previous parties... mmmmmmh... authentic fried noodles... gaaaaaaaaaaahhhh.. *drools*

Oh! And yes Angel, I'm vegetarian. :)

Okay, now my own stomach is making noises... I should go have lunch with my colleagues!

See ya ladies! :D

ok...ok..Angel!! Enough rubbing it in!!! You girls are lucky! Oh, and as for the dessert you picked...chocolate fudge cake...that is right up my alley!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D Sounds YUMMY!!! And OF COARSE I have plenty of room for my UK and Canadian friends!!!!!!!!!!!! ANYTIME!!! I would love it!!!
Oh, yes we are finally all moved in. I have a few boxes to put away, but not much. After the holidays, we are turning one of the bedrooms into a craft room for me. I cant wait. And yep! My Christmas cards are all filled out and ready to go.... :D

So sorry Sophie. I dont mean to leave anyone out...

Sounds like you had a really great weekend. All that cooking!!! You are too cute. My DH doesnt eat ANY sweets. No cake, cookies, pudding NOTHING. So it kind of sucks. I cant back anything because I will end up eating it all! Oh, and my furbabies snuggle like that too. Isnt that cute?? My girl sounds just like your girl!!! She is my beast. She will be so good, then one day she gets fiesty and does something bad. It must be a female thing! MAN... I am so sorry to hear about your friend. That is terrible. Let her know your friends will be thinking and praying for her and her sweet baby!!!!!!!!! So stressful.

Can you girls pm me with your addresses??

Ok ladies...Untill we meet again!!!

Hey Miracle!

A quick note before I head home. First of all, don't worry dear! I know you weren't leaving anyone out, but I just couldn't resist, the door was wide open. I LOVE to tease Americans about the fact that, yup, Mexico and Canada are also part of North America and NO they're not american states!

And about the furbabies, yes, I just melt when they do that, I would watch them all day! And they just started doing that, I guess it's just the adjustment to Toulouse moving in with us. I hope the physical proximity helps my girl to calm down... Your craft room project sounds amazing! :D What crafts do you like? Oooooh, you must check this out... I saw this in a Martha Stewart magazine in late spring... basically, she took two bookshelves and converted them into a craft center. You put them on wheels and you link them with a long piano hinge. You put plexiglass strips at the end of the shelves so the items don't fall when you open and close the center (like a book). When it closes, it looks like an armoire! You can decorate it with moldings and nice wallpaper... So one side was storage and the other side was a few shelves with a table you can pull up and lock in place and when you're down, you just pull it down... gosh, I wish I had pictures... if you're interested, I'll mail you the article! No kidding, it,s that good!

Thanks for your kind words for my friend, I'll tell her... And I'll pm you before I leave.

Take care sweetheart, and have a great evening!

Hi Ladies,

Thank u so much for ur messages ....

Su: Oliver is adorable hun - u must be so proud ...

Well, here is my news:

I was scanned ..... there 1 x sac there - in the uterus not the tube :D

But yet to see a hearbeat!

Im ok with that as i know its early - they actually measured me earlier than what i thought i was ..... 5 wks + 3 days - Dr came in to scan me too, as the nurse wanted to be sure..... He checked everything, my tubes (to check in case embryo no x 2 was there) its not thankfully .... he checked my ovaries and said that i was still stimulated .... so thats prob whats contributing to the low down pain .....

All in all - a good day. Im not worried about no H.Beat yet - i know that will come. Im just glad its where it should be, an looks normal for its age = a black hole

I rung my clinic to let them know, an the lovely nurse there told me to come back in on 22nd Dec (nexr Monday) for another scan ... have been advised that it still mite not be a h.beat, but wud rather they kept an eye on me now - at least i will known it has grown etc :)

Have to go ladies, im late into work an things piling up .... will be back later, love ya guys :)
