Kas, I too outgrew my clothes before I even knew I was prego! I am size 2 also, a tiny person and generally wear close fitting clothes. My doc said it is the progesterone that is a sign of a healthy pregnancy and its sustaining the ovaries enlarged, stimulated size. So I am thinking the only thing we are showing are our ovaries right now!

HI Ladies:

Oh Boy am I now to understand that sleeping is going to get worse then it is now too? I am only 12 wks 5 say with Triplets and already have a very hard time getting comfortable. MY belly is already large since my Uterus has already been expanded 3 times from my last children. My Peri said it is completely normal to be showing as if I am 6 months already with Triplets and an Already stretched Uterus... I laughed since I know my babies are only about 3 inches long at this time...

Kas, I am by no means a size 2, I started out as a size 8 and my week 8 there was no wearing anything that size. Luckily I closed my company in July and dont have to be in a suit everyday any longer...

I was watching a show on Discovery Health a few days ago and there was a women at 35 weeks with Triplets.........OMG.. I am still trying to figure out how she could walk, her belly was HUGE!!!!! I dont men large, I mean HUGE!!!! However her babies were all between 4lbs 1 oz and 4lbs 14 oz, which is amazing for Triplet births. I have made it my goal to do whatever is needed to get these ladies as far along as possible. With my Children 20 yrs ago I was 2 weeks late with each, maybe that means I can get these babies to at least 36 weeks.. From my mouth to Gods ears!!!

Well I am off to relax for a bit until DH gets home.

I hope everyone stays feeling well and has a wonderful weekend.

I highly recommend the snoodle pillow. It helped me stay on my side. For some reason using a big pillow was just so uncomfortable. It's $50. but you might find one on ebay, and then you can get a new cover for it (or wash the one it comes with) I saw they sell covers at babies r us.

congrats on the triplets

Hey there ladies. Just thought that I'd drop by with an update. We went for another fetal growth sono yesterday and it all went great with the boys.

They're both measuring right on target with everything and they bot weight 2lbs 8oz each. I'm so proud of my growing boys.

We happened to get a really good picture of Santino and OMG! He looks just like my husband!! It's really increadible that a fetus can look so much like one of it's parents already. I can't wait to meet them in person.

On the other hand we also got some funky data back on me. when we went for our level 2 u/s at 19 weeks,my cervix measured 4.7. Which we thought was great. Then last month at 23 weeks it measured 4.4. Which was also great.

But then yesterday at 27 weeks it measured at 3.4. It went down more then a centimeter. They reasurred me that anything above 2.5 is just fine and I know that it is, but I'm a litle concerned with the progression that's going on.

The doctore came in and he said that instead of seeing me in a month he wanted me back in 2 weeks just so that we can be proactive about it since it declined so quickly.

He also said that if my cervix went down below 2.5 before 34 weeks, which if things keep up like this it most certainly will, I'll need a shot of steroids to prepare the babies lungs for preterm labor.

I'm not terribly worried. I know I'm not in any trouble yet and I watch a lot of birth shows on discovery and see babies survive born at 25 weeks, but I'm concerned to say the least.

I want my babies to have the best start they can have, and my body is starting to worry me a bit.

Any comfort you ladies can offer would be greatly appreciated as this is the first hint of a wrench in what's been a great pregnancy so far. Thanks so much to all of you.

SiverAngel you know this is exactly what I am going through. My cervical length went from 2.5 to .5 in 6 weeks. I have been on hospital bed rest for 5 weeks so far and I have been stable. They gave me the steroid shots at 24 weeks and so far all is well. I start my 28 week on Tuesday! You will be fine!!! If anything you may be put on bed rest at home at some point. Hang in there :)

Yes, My friend was put on bedrest at 24 weeks for the same thing. she is now 30 weeks, and they said if she makes it to 34 they'll take her off bedrest!

I guess, I would start lying around more. you aren't on bedrest now, but if you can take a couple of hours every day and read on the sofa or watch movies, maybe that would help? Obiously I'm not a doc, but mine said it's the weight of two babies that gets the cervix up and opening.

SO if you can spend some time in that direction. My massage woman said to put pillows under the butt and knees and try a pelic tilt or reverse position to get pressure off the cervix every day. just 10 minutes or so.

Hello ladies, It's been a long time since I have posted. I guess things have been extemely smooth lately. I've been so fortunate. I'm glad to see so many new ladies have joined, it's great to see!

silverangel-sorry to hear that your cervix is shortening. Hopefully it won't shorten any more. I've heard of lots of woman's cerivixs shortening and it staying that way without shortening any further for several weeks. Maybe that will be the case with you. Are you coming up on 28 weeks? If so, that's great, huge milestone!

I have a question for you ladies regarding cervical length. Having read your discussions on it i wonder if i should be concerned??

I had my first scan at 6 weeks 3 days and i'm due for another one next week. At this 6 weeks scan we found out there were triplets and a resolving fourth sac. Everthing was ok and he measured my cervix. It was 3.5. He said my OB will probably want to do a stitch at about 12 weeks.

I wasnt too concerned about this but as i know nothing about being preg i dont know what is normal and what isnt.... From reading silver angel's post should i worry??? My cervix is the same as yours when i was 6 weeks and you are 27 weeks!!!!

What should your cervix be???? any advice appreciated :)

Hey Kas,

Every body is different and your cervix length may stay as is through out, although 3.5 is a bit short that early on. The stitch is exactly what would happen and now is the time to do it!

hi ladies:
muchhope: i bought the snoggle, and used it a couple of times, then decided it was more uncomfortabel with it than without...but i use it as a back rest if i'm sitting in bed or the couch. i know what u mean about meaning uncomfortable in sleeping...its one of the hardest things about pg, worse than nausea for me

silverangel: i'm sure that your cervix will hold up...it can shorten then stay at the same length for weeks...so i'd keep the PMA. You've gone beyond the point of viability with your boys, so i'm sure they're going to be just fine either way...

kas: i'm sure the weight of 3 babies has ur cervix shortening sore than twin moms...if they put a stitch in early, you don't have to spend the rest of ur pg on bed rest...so it may be a good thing...good luck

As for me, my glucose tolerance test was okay, but just made it...so no more ice cream and doritos (well, occas) - i got hungry while writing this :D :D. And i'm still anemic, but the obs are okay with my numbers. Secretly, ladies, i'm really hoping for a break from work at this point as my concentration is really at a low now...but i have a feeling that i'll be fine, and won't go on bed rest until like 2 weeks from delivery...i know bed rest is boring, but i could just watch movies all day, sleep and feel my belly with the girls dancing around :)

Kas-Some woman have a cervix of 3.5 throughout their whole pregnancy. I think they tend to get worried when your cervix is shortening at a fast rate. The fact that your doctor wants to put a stitch in means he is being proactive. That's a great thing. You will most likely end up on bedrest at some point. Good luck!

Hi Everyone,

I just want to say thanks to you all that have given me advice and information so far!! I will look up the website today, I'm sure it will help.

This is my 3rd week on bedrest in the hospital. I am 28wks 3d now. Some days I'm okay and others I don't want to even open my window. I had another ultrasound last week the babies look good and so does the fluid. I asked the dr if he will check my cervix again, he said no. I guess since I'm here already it doesn't matter.

What does get me through the day is listening to my babies heartbeats. They are on the monitor twice a day for an hour. That's when I'm reminded of what being on bedrest is truly for. So the longer I stay in bed the better!!

Hi all,
My internet collapsed when I moved my office downstairs (it is going to be the babies room). Now I had a chance to post-really miss you all!
Stefanie, I read that fetuses sleep every 20 minutes or so...then they get up and running. Sometimes they get hiper with tons of sugar if we eat refined junk. So, I wouldn't worry about them taking it easy from time to time: is is a good sign, you are not eating too much junk!
SilverAngel, sorry to hera about your heartburn. I got better when I spent a couple of hours at the hospital and didn't feel it as bad. My husband improvised a slanted bed for me at home ( we are sleeping in separate rooms as I wake up 6 times per night and he needs to rest) and it worked for me. I sleep with the head/lungs a bit elevated. And also I don't go to bed before an hour after finishing a meal. No more Mylanta for me!
Much hope, congrats on your triplets! You have older children, like me. That is a very good sign - the uterus is pre-stretched. Are you reading about multiples? Let me know if you want references.
Babyhope, welcome to the triplets sub-group!
JenniferPD HURRAY 28 WEEKS! You've made it!!! Keep us posted!
Carisa, welcome back! Hope things go well with your GC and you are able to enjoy the uncertainties and joys of the delivery!
BabyLoves, this pain in the lateral lower abdomen may be the stretched ligaments saying "we can't take it anymore!". They can. Avoid certain movements, ask for help when you have to bend...and take it easy.
Thanks for the link to bedrest support group - I finally followed doctor's advice and went on a medical leave. I had a scary jump on my blood pressure and decided to be a well-behaved mamma. Now I watch TV, rent many movies from same actor on Netflix (to see how good they are!), listen to books on tape, knit, study statistics online, read (the arms get painful) and solve sudoku puzzles...when I am not sleeping :) Any other ideas?
Be well,
Literatriz

Thanks to everyone who gave me some insight into the whole cervix deal.... I go for my final scan with my RE next Friday and i will be 10 weeks. He is then releasing me to the OB and peri with the recommendation of a cervical stitch at 12 weeks, so i guess the new guy will be the one to ask about the procedure and cervical length etc....

Its good that i'm prepared for it at least, but i didnt realise its done under a general anaesthetic :( yuk. Last time i had one of those i woke up to find out they had removed both my tubes as it was a big old mess in there, so i am more worried about that then the procedure itself!!!!
