Hi smoon0021

Welcome to our group. We have a lot of wonderful ladies here and am sure we'll all give each other the support we KNOW we all need during TTC.

I am really sorry about your chemical pregnancy, i know its hard. Try and relax and look forward to the upcoming IVF with new hope and high spirits. I had a chemical pg on IVF #2 and i was gutted, but i hold onto the hope that i was nearly there.

As for what to in preparation for IVF, to be honest there are so many different opinions out there. I can tell you what I am doing, but I am not saying its the right thing. Its what i've decided to do after gathering advice from various sources and decided what worked for me.

First, i am going through this with a POSITIVE ATTITUDE. I AM GETTING PREGNANT IN APRIL!

Second, i am taking a Prenatal Multivitamin with Folic acid 700mcg, Vitamin B complex, Vitamin C (250mg) and Vitamin E (400mg) ( Vitamin C & E enrich the fluid which surrounds and nourishes the eggs and also help repair after egg retrieval) and Omega 3 & 6, (important for body DNA, body tissue and brain development in the fetus) i am also taking Zinc (helps with cell formation and would healing after surgery), Magnesium (improves fertilisation rates) and Vitamin A (less than 2000iu) (aid egg production, and important for fetal development), CoQ10 (improves blood flow, enriches womb lining), Selenium (improves fertilisation rates, prevents chromosone breakage).

Third , i am eating a well balanced diet which is high in fibre (whole grain breads, cereals and brown rice) and protein (organic lean meat, free range chicken and eggs, cold water fish). I eat a lot of organic vegetables (carrots, brocolli, dark leafy veges, avocados) and fruits (oranges, apples, pears and pineapples) and drink at least 2 litres of water every day. I also snack on nuts and seeds.

Others say cut back on dairy BUT I know i need my calcium for strong bones and teeth and well fuctioning muscles and nerves so i have my low fat dairy, especially plain yoghurt and cottage cheese.

I stopped drinking coffee and artificially sweetened drinks i.e diet drinks ( which i used to drink A LOT). I also stopped having my occassional glass of wine on weekends.

Other things I am going to do but havent started yet include yoga, relaxation techniques like meditation and positive visualization.

Last BUT DEFINATELY NOT least, I PRAY.

Well, thats my plan, I am not saying its right, just what I am doing.

My RE just told me to keep doing what i was doing and to start taking Folic Acid... Thats all. But i came up with that plan on my own after some reading and asking around.

Take care of yourself and look forward to a successful ivf and pregnancy.

Hi
I am new to this site just registered now after praying and asking God to give me a support group. I know I am at the right place. I hope this relationship will help me pull thru and also maybe will offer hope to someone out there. Just had a missed miscarriage on my 2nd IVF trial, am told the baby stopped growing at 10weeks only discovered it on my 13weeks 5 days visit on scan. It came as a shock to me and my husband. It has been hard. I am planning to have an FET in April so will keep you updated.

OH by the way mum4sure (Shamiso) I think we speak the same language other than english hahahaha

Welcome to the group.

I am so sorry for yor loss. This must be really difficult to come to terms with, i am so sorry. IVF is hard enough without having to deal with the loss of a child.

faithful- you've definitely come to the right place! i've been here since september '09 & the support has been phenomenal! i'm so sorry to hear about your m/c...how awful & heartbreaking. (((HUGS))) i've got everything crossed for your upcoming fet.

mom4sure (shamiso)- wow, sounds like you have a great plan! i love your positive outlook in your signature about your upcoming ivf...how about that for positive visualization :-) by the way, i've actually heard that you do want a normal to high level of fat in your diet during ivf. how goes the yoga? i hear you about needing to be active & moving...i take zumba & i love it! i'm going to miss it during my 2ww, but it'll be worth it! did af show her ugly face & you got to start the pill?

smoon- sounds like whatever other site you were on was a bad one....nothing like that here, i promise! so sorry about your chemical pregnancy...i know how that feels & it just plain sucks! as far as getting your body ready, there are different vitamins you can take (we have mfi, so dh is on a lot of vitamins), just eat healthy, get enough sleep, be physically active (even if it's just taking a walk), & limit your stress (if that's even possible in the world of ivf).

nicksgam- congrats on your boy & happy 1st b-day to him! Imageit's my sil & bil's b-days...they are twins...great day! good luck on #2!

lyd- i hope you're pleasantly surprised by this fresh cycle & get your bfp! it's on 2.24, right (thursday)? 3 more days!!! everything crossed for a Image but please stalk us since you won't need to "officially" join us.

heidi- when will you be starting your meds?

jennifer- hoping they will find your golden egg! it'll be around easter time, so hopefully that is a great sign! Image

michele- thanks for taking on the list duty...you rock! praying for good suppression! hopefully, it doesn't do this to you: Image Image
when do you go get checked?

lee- wow, an emotional rollercoaster is right! i'm so sorry about your ivf history, but congrats on adopting your foster son! you know i've heard so many stories where couple end up getting preggo after adopting....it WILL happen to you!

neffi- wow, what a great opportunity! have you heard back from the couple?

penny (darlene)- we have severe mfi also, but the count is not too good. when do you think you'll be starting your meds? so, you're going to be on lupron?

akdelp- ivf is definitely an emotional rollercoaster...you've come to the right place. when will you be starting meds? what protocol will you be on?

mcfarland- i remember you...we cycled together in september '09 & '10. how are you? so sorry to hear about the cyst...it doesn't sound comfortable, poor thing! when do you go back to check on it? i hope it disappears like Image did his magic.

afm....just waiting for next tuesday (3.1) for our consultation at yale for a 2nd opinion. have a great week everyone!!!

Wow this board is picking up! Guess I’ll have to check in more often from now on.

Michele – Thanks for adding me to the list. It’s very exciting to start the journey again. It seems like there are many teachers in this group. I was a middle school teacher for 10 years and now I am an online instructor for teachers. During my first 2 IVFs I was teaching and it was very difficult to go through the process and teach. Luckily I had the most amazing coworkers who would jump in and cover me when I had an appt or needed to cry (those hormones really make me emotional). Even my principal would teach for me if I needed to take care of something. Hopefully working from home will make this time easier.

Jennifer – Welcome! Looks like you are on your way. Lead us all to the spring 2011 BFPs!!

Heidi – I have been on Metformin for 2 wks now and have spent most of that time home near my bathroom! I’m on the extended release now adjusting my diet to keep from getting sick. Hopefully I will have the losing weight side effect too!

LYD10 – Thanks for the well wishes. My DH and I truly believe that all the heart ache fof losing our "angel babies" was what lead us to our DS and we know that if we had been able to have a baby back then we would not have fostered and adopted our DS. SO all in all we feel blessed and hopeful for this cycle.

SD Trying – I have been stalking you ladies in the other board and am super happy for you and your BFP! Having some of your baby dust on this board could bring us some luck so stalk away!

Nicksgam – Congrats on your baby boy and happy birthday to him! I can’t believe you are going to do IVF with a 1 year old. I am already worried about how I will be able to keep up with my DS and he’s 4 and very self sufficient. Good luck!

Moorebaby – Another teacher!!! This board is going to have the smartest babies!!!!!

Mom4sure – I feel your excitement. My DH thinks I’m crazy because I was so excited to begin taking meds, but it means the start of the journey and moments closer to our baby! I love yoga but have to admit my mind wanders a lot. I’m actually trying acupuncture with this cycle hoping that it will help.

If I missed anyone I am sorry and wishing you well!

AFM – Had AF for this past week which is great since I am PCOS and sometimes don’t get AF on schedule. My next step is to get a calendar and wait for AF which should be last week in March and then the games can really begin!! Till then I will be following you ladies and cheering you all on to BFPs!!

Oh - thank you, Moorebaby! I hope you are right and it is a BFP. I am trying really hard to visualize it!!! Yes, it is just around the corner on thursday. Urghh - i am scared - i'll be either really sad or really ecstatic. i go in for b/w at 8am and then wait for the call around noon. last time i had them call my husband. maybe i'll do that again. i havent decided yet. i should probably just man up and take the call myself. Anyway - i still got time to decide.

Hi Ladies

Wow its getting closer and closer.

Moorebaby - Wow i also love ZUMBA, it fantastic... I am going to miss all those moves for sure!! The yoga's going ok, i started yesterday, and felt really good afterwards. Yeah AF finally came Friday and started my pill. yeah :D .

Lee - Started the yoga & its not as bad as i thought, i actually enjoyed it. Oh, looks like we have a similar schedule. My next step is also to wait for AF last week of March hopefully 31 March. I stop the pill on the 28th so if AF comes on time. I start stimming on the 1st of April. OH CANT WAIT!!! I know i am probably obsessing but i've bought a diary where i am documenting my whole IVF experience. I am also 39, if its ok, do you mind me asking what protocol your FS put you on. I am stimming with Gonal F 900IU & 400IU.

Mom4sure - I still don't know exactly what my meds will be. I am supposed to speak to my nurse mid March and get the details. I will be transferring more like end of April beginning of May so I will be following your baby trail! Until then I am taking synthroid for hypothyroidism and metformin for PCOS. I will also be doing intralipid IVs for immune issues. So the next few weeks should be pretty quiet for me until AF at the end of the month. I think keeping a journal is a great idea because soemday your baby will know just how hard you worked to get him/her here!

To everyone else hope you are doing well! I will do personals soon.

hi nicksgam - i was part of that cycle, too! my boy is 11 months tomorrow and i am currently doing a fresh cycle for #2. i wanted to wait a bit longer, but due to my age decided not to. good luck to you!
LYD10 ~ Good luck to you too. I wanted to nurse my DS four 1 year. Now that he is 1yr old, just like you we don't want to wait because of my age.
