Blissful & Sunshine WELCOME To The APRIL/MAY CYCLE HOUSE of FUN!!! :D

Blissful: Sorry to hear of the "roller coaster" u been on. I can relate to not knowing if you can do go thru this process again or not because, this is my 1st attempt at IVF (had one natural pregnancy/birth...Quay is 17yrs old) and I am convinced that this is gonna be it! I have set in my heart that I am gonna get pregnant & if I don't...I don't know if I can do this again either. The process is stressful, I have only begun BCP & I haven't slept a full night since (7 dys)
I do wish you the best!!!

JenMink: I too will be on then Menupur and Gonal-F injections. I guess we have one another to compare notes, side-affects, or hopefully no sideaffects at all....my hormone lvls are low anyway, so im already feeling affects from the bcp....if that isany indication of what I have to look forward to....DH is in trouble

Heidi67 Yeah, the cost of staying there for a month has put a dent in my budget. I had hoped to stay at my nieces's place but there were complications with her flat mate and i only found out last week. I was devasted and scrambled around looking for accomodation. It didnt help that it was around Easter time and in Cape Town, one of the post popular holiday destinations in South Africa.... Luckily my ivf coordinator referred me to one of the clinics' RE's who lets out self catering fully furnished flats... What a relief... Expensive yes, but worth it...

How may days after AF do you start your BCP. My RE had me start my BCP on the day that AF arrived :?:
Good luck with the "***** juice".

Hi All - Wow this is a very active thread and kind of intimidating.

I'll be doing my first IVF in April according to the draft calendar that I received from my RE. I have endometriosis and after several trips to the ER (before and after we tried to conceive naturally), went to my RE for a consultation. Essentially, she recommended going straight to IVF rather than doing IUIs due to my condition. At the time; however, we weren't ready to do IVF and needed a break so she recommended that I go on long term depo Lupron and have been on it ever since, about 9 months. Now that I've had some time to separate from the pain and the ER visits, we're ready to try IVF and have our diagnostic tests and consent visit scheduled for this Thursday. If all looks good, we can move quickly since I'm already on Lupron our RE said with medications starting the first week of April with an antagonist protocol. We're nervous but excited and are hoping that everything goes well.

No one I know has done IVF so I'm glad that there are so many that are going through this at the same as me for moral support here. Thanks for being so welcoming.

Thanks everyone for the welcome!

Blair- even though I am new to this board you can crash anytime you want. You were on the first board I ever joined and we are going to have a play date next year for sure! On the hunt for green and orange undies.

JenMink- thanks for the AF dance! I am in much better spirits today. I even went back and deleted most of my BFN post. I don't stay down for long!

Mom4sure- we can be crazy workout moms together after our BFPs. :D

Lee- you are so sweet. Thank you!

Tiffany- it will be my time...and yours as well. Here's to the luckiest board this site has ever seen.

Blairwh58 Welcome to the group :) . Look forward to sharing the journey with you and going orange in April :D .

Hallo ladies tried to catch up but I guess there are just a lot of messages. Work has been so hectic had a lot of deadlines to meet am done now can relax a little bit.
AF came today after my miscarriage in February so it looks like everything is on track. I am now sure that AF will definately come in April in time for my FET used to have a regular period before my MC so am hoping that in April AF will come on time for the FET wanted to rest one cycle (i.e March cycle) before FET.
Thanx so much for the AF dances and all newbies welcome! welcome!

oh and I got the results they took my little angel for testing after my MC and the baby was normal so well sometimes in life we will never get answers for some things.

Hello Ladies -

where do i begin... this is kind of bittersweet - as i predicted i'll be joining this board afterall.

I got a BFP 3 weeks ago but the betas were low and slow rising, so i had my u/s today and it was bad news - they saw 2 little "remntants" on the u/s but they were way too small for 7 weeks. no heartbeats obviously. So,the low rising betas proved not to be a good sign afterall. Oh, i dont know why we, IVF ladies, have to go through so many trials to be succesful - why oh why cant it just work the first time around??!!!

So now I join this wonderful board while i wait for my period - which is going to be heavy and hopefully will come in the next week or two - and then i start my FET. If the period doesnt come in 2 weeks then we'll do a D&C. My doctor now seems to be more convinced than ever that FETs are the way to go for me. I now have 2 unsuccesful fresh cycles and one succesful FET. Hopefully the upcoming FET will keep the succesful FET streak going! I sent an email to my embryologyst asking for her opinion as to what she thinks went wrong. Its confusing to me that both embryos sort of "took" but didnt make it obviously. I asked her was it the environment or the embryos?

Ladies - i have a heavy heart now - but in a few days i'll be hopeful again and will be happy to cheer on all of you guys in our jorney to success!

I am just very glad that i moved up my u/s to today. originally it was scheduled for friday and my DS's 1 year birthday is on saturday. So I am very happy i have a few days to myself to digest and come to terms with this sad news. And get myself together for this weekend!

Thank you for listening and your support!

Blissful - way to bounce back!!! i look forward to sharing your PMA in weeks ahead.

Looks like I will be joining you ladies on this thread. I had my egg retrieval today and they retrieved 35 eggs. My doc is concerned that I will develop OHSS if we went ahead with the transfer this cycle. So we are waiting till next month to do a FET, unless the embryos won't make it to freeze. Oh the joys of ivf :)

Hi ladies!!! I missed you!!! I've been so busy w/ correcting...the blah side of teaching :-(
Image

Lyd- Awe….I’m so sorry (((HUGS))) Yes, us ivf girls definitely have to go through so much…it is so not part of the reality for many women getting preggo the old-fashioned way, which is why it’s so frustrating! Now, I’m not too familiar w/ FETs, but don’t they build up your lining prior to the transfer? Maybe that is the better environment for you & that’s why the FETs might be the way to go for you. Either way…that really stinks & I’m so sorry. This upcoming FET will give you your baby…I just know it! I hope AF comes for you, so you can avoid a D&C. Please keep us posted on what the embryologist says. Happy early 1st birthday to your son…hold him tight & enjoy every moment w/ him :-)

Faithful- Glad you can relax a bit at work…I definitely know the feeling! Anyway you look at m/c it is just sad & I’m so sorry, but I’m glad that you’re able to put some sort of closure based on the test results.

Red Riding Hood- Welcome! You definitely found an awesome place w/ really supportive women here. Please let us know how Thursday’s appointment goes.

Blairwh- Do NOT be sorry for crashing….you’re welcome here anytime! I hope AF gets here really soon! So, you’re having an FET in a couple of weeks? How many will you be transferring? Good luck to you & keep us posted!

Blaqdymun- I love your reference to the “April/May Cycle House of Fun!”

Heidi- Yay for AF finally getting here!!! I was on Lupron my last cycle, which I wasn’t on it during my 1st 3 cycles, & I hate to say it, but I did notice a difference as far as how moody I was. My DH definitely learned quick & stayed away, lol!

Sunshine- Welcome! Please let us know how your consultation goes next week!
Wishingandhoping- Hi! I have experience w/ Ganirelix; however, I have never taken BCPS during for my cycles. During my 1st 3 cycles I took Follistim & right around day 7 I would start Ganirelix. It’s used to prevent ovulation & to have the follies fully mature. Hope that helps. Doing the AF dance for you :-)

Tiffany- So, has AF showed her ugly face yet?

Blissful- I’m so sorry about your BFN…unfortunately, I know how you feel. This will be your time…I can feel it!!! This is a lucky board ;-) By the way, I absolutely LOVE zumba…I do it 3x/week & I’m dreading the time when I’ll have to slow down/stop.

Mom4sure- When do you head out to Cape Town? We start stims on the same day…April 1st!!!

JenMink- It’s almost B!tch juice time, lol!

Michele- How are you girl? We’re almost there…CMTs will be over soon…woohoo!!! You need to move your name to the “Doing Injectables for IVF” section since you’ve been on Lupron. How’s that going by the way? Are you students scared of you yet, lol?

Mcfarland- When’s your u/s to check out that cyst?

How’s everyone else doing???

AFM- So, I’m good to go….woohoo!!! My SHG went awesome…I’m good! It actually wasn’t painful at all, so I was happy about that. Also, the insurance stuff has gone through. My nurse has already ordered my meds & I spoke with the pharmacy to confirm my order & delivery. I’m kind of excited b/c this time I will be on Crinone gel suppositories during the 2ww instead of the PIO injections. I know I’ve heard they’re messy & all, but I need a break from the sore butt & hips. I guess this is 1 thing that makes Yale different from UConn…1 thing that I definitely like! I will be starting Lupron on Monday…oh shoot, now that I think of it I think it might be Tuesday…ugh…need to email my nurse. We spoke yesterday & she said Monday at 1st (I think) & then changed it to Tuesday (I think) b/c originally she thought AF got here on March 1st but it was actually March 2nd. But I’m not 100% sure b/c now I’m questioning what I wrote down. Anyways, it’s either Monday or Tuesday. Then I go in for b/w & an u/s on Friday, April 1st (this I definitely know is correct, lol!) I will be calling out sick that day as this is my 1st time dealing w/ Yale & I don’t want to make any assumption as to how fast/slow they are w/ these appointments. I don’t want to have to worry if I’ll make it to school on time. Although, technically I can do a ½ sick day. But it’s a Friday, so why not take the day off?! Maybe it’ll be a nice spring day & I can do something outside. So that day they’ll be able to tell me if I’m good to start Follistim. Also, I’ve been getting weekly massages at my chiropractor’s office. I know many do acupuncture, but it’s just not for me. She does upper back & neck massage, so it should be okay even after the transfer. I’ll check w/ my nurse about it. The other thing I like about Yale is that I can email my nurse…not an option that was available (at least not that I knew of) at UConn. When I had my SHG, the RE doing it made a comment, “We do things differently here that at UConn.” Not sure what she meant & I just left it at that, but she had a positive voice & expression. So, I’m okay w/ that. DH has a SA scheduled for Monday, March 28th. Since our issue is severe MF due to count, morphology, & motility, I’ve had him on a serious vitamin regimen- vitamins A, B complex, & E, acetyl l carnitine, acai, fish oil, selenium, coq10, zinc. Hope it has helped, a little at least. When we had our consultation back on the 1st, the RE was kind of funny actually. He said, “Well, how do you know it’s not an egg issue also?” So, I told him that UConn has told us due to DH’s SA, it’s clear that it’s a sperm issue, so we just assumed that it’s the only issue at hand. The RE responded, “Just b/c you know it’s 1 thing that’s wrong, you can’t rule out other issues that may also be present.” I never thought of it that way. I like him…the RE at UConn was nice & very smart, but this RE at Yale is all of that, but also more personable, which I’m very happy about.
Ok, so now that I wrote a novel, I will stop, so I can grab some dinner. As soon as I clarify the Lupron start date, I will update you. Michele, I can’t wait to see my name under the “Doing Injectables for IVF” section!!!

Moorebaby- congrats on getting started! Have you done 4 fresh cycles or have some of those been FET's? Curious because I just finished what I consider to be IVF #3 but it was only my second fresh cycle with one FET in between. I have always felt like each time is such a challenge that they all should "count" as IVF cycles.

Addy- welcome!

LYD10- I am so very sorry my Feb/March cycle buddy. :( :( :( . I don't know what to say. I was so hopeful and confident for you when your levels started doubling and my heart aches for you. The only thing worse than a BFN is what you went through. You are stronger than me. As you know I went on a "rant" after my BFN. I would have been an absolute disaster had I experienced what you did. I know it really hurts, but you will survive and thrive. Stay positive. FET is the way to go for both of us and we are on our way to BFPs. GIve yourself time to heal and grieve before you get back on the PMA train. You need that and deserve it. We will be leaving misery station soon enough. Next stop? Babyville! Toot toot! (((((((((HUGS)))))))))).

Faithful- I am not sure how I would feel if I were you, I would think it must feel good and bad. Good because you know that you are making healthy babies. Bad because you don't know why this wasn't the time. I am sorry you don't have more certainty, but I do know that the GREAT news is you have healthy embies that will make it when the time is right, and I have a feeling that time is now!

SDTrying- thanks for stalking and for your gyrations! Keep them coming. I am hopeful the progesterone will be out of my system soon and the good times will flow!

AFM- For those of you that have experienced BFNs (most of you), I assume the process is the same at your clinics as it is at mine and it stinks. I got my BFN Monday but they still make you go back in for Beta #2. I think I understand why, but it is still no fun. This morning I had a work meeting an hour a half away from home which meant I had to get up at 5 and on the road by 6:30 in order to make sure I was the lab's very first patient when they opened at 7 so I could make it on time. I am no stranger to early mornings, but it was the REASON that rubbed me the wrong way day today. Hard to drag your fanny out of bed to go get poked again, knowing what the result will be. My favorite part is getting called by the clinic AGAIN to be told it was negative AGAIN. Then, my RE himself called me when I was on my way home tonight to give me his condolences personally. That's sort of nice...but it I think I would have enjoyed hearing "I am so sorry" only once as opposed to hearing it for a third time. I guess they are in a tough spot though. If they don't call we feel like they don't know/don't care. If they do, they are badgering us with bad news. Can't win! Not letting it get me down, however. Just venting yet another crazy aspect about this roller coaster of a process! I know it will be the very LAST "I am so sorry" call I ever receive!

 Happy Wednesday !!!

Bliss--- Totally know the pain of the return Beta after a BFN. With my last cycle that ended in a chemical I was SO MAD they kept making me go back until my number was 0. My Beta was 27, 2nd 19 and went down by 5 everytime I got a Beta until it was 0. Here is why I got so mad... not only was this horrible to keep hearing the numbers going down, BUT they made me go to a lab and they charged me $50 bucks for each blood draw. I think final amount was around $250... It's just not a fun thing to go through, so I feel your pain. I know that both of us will be getting nothing but increasing Beta's this cycle!!

SD-- You are such a stalker!!! LOL... Glad to have your presence on this board, and even more happy you got that BFP. How was Hawaii?!

Moore--Yeah for the insurance! Those suppositories are super messy but I found wearing a panty liner really helped. I am starting Lupron on the 18th now so we are pretty close to the same time. I like the ability to email my nurses and RE as well. My first clinic didn't allow for email, this one is great about it! I didn't like Acupuncture either, it was weird and those needles hurt! Massage sounds heavenly! I think anything that reduces stress helps the process.

Addy-- EGG SHOWOFF!!! LOL.... wow, that is a ton of eggs! You go girl! I know it's probably a little disappointing to have to put the transfer off but having been through OHSS (mild) it's probably the best thing for you. I am actually worried about having OHSS again. Best of luck to you and hopefully all works out well!

LYD10: First off --- This is for you:

Image

My FET was a chemical, and although my Beta never rised, I know the pain. I sincerely hope REALLY HOPE that AF comes on her own and that you don't need a D & C. The great news is... you joined a very lucky board because this is a BFP group! Hoping the next few days brings you some comfort and peace.

faithful2011--So sorry for your loss :( sometimes IF and IVF can be such a roller coaster. I remember with cycle #1 I had no doubts it was going to take, I mean they put these gorgeous embryos inside you already growing why wouldn't it work!? Then I got slapped in the face with a BFN and it took me over two years to try again. No I am determined to keep going at it no matter what. I hope your FET gives you that BFP and a full 9 months of pregnancy bliss! Cannot wait to cycle with you :)

Mom4sure-- Found any Orange underwear yet!? I am still on the hunt LOL

Redridinghood-- Love the name btw! Welcome to the BFP board, because that's all we are getting  Sounds like you and I will be very close in cycling. There is a whole lotta support on this board and we are all here for you! Good luck!

Blair-- Good to see you! Didn't hear about Green, maybe I will look for some green undies too! Best wishes for your March transfer!

AFM-- Well, B!tch Juice was moved up two days today due to not having enough BCP's left... Not sure how that happened! ER still set for April 9th so that's good. Had my baseline U/S today and everything was good so we are moving forward. Found out today that DH's sperm might have some minor morphology issues so RE is recommending ICSI... another $1800.. yippee!! So far this cycle has cost us a little over $28k... imagine all the people in the world that get pregnant for free....

Hope everybody has a great rest of the week!!!! Image

Hi Ladies

Faithful2011 Great to have you back, missed you. I know its bitter sweet, but i am happy AF finally showed so you can be on track for your April FET.. ((HUGS))

LYD10 I am really sorry about your results, that is really painful, my heart was sore when i read your post. I am so very very sorry ((((big hug)))). We are here for you and we'll give you all the support you need with your FET. I am praying this is it. Your RE seems sure that FET is the way to go for you, so we are praying for a BFP this FET :D.

AddyWelcome :)

Moorebaby Congrats on the green light. It's good you have a positive feeling at Yale, that a great way to start a cycle, it always helps when your new RE does things different from the previous one. I changed clinics and of course have a new RE who's more through, It gave me a sense of "Maybe thats what went wrong last time" So we start positive and finish positive..... BFP that is :D :D :D
moorebaby wrote:Mom4sure- When do you head out to Cape Town? We start stims on the same day…April 1st!!!
I leave for Cape Town on the 28th of March and yeahhh we start stims on the same day, so it will be great to compare notes. Oh and I am also on Crinone.

BlissfulCS UGHHH i am sorry you had you had to go through the whole BFN process again.. how awful... so sorry.
BlissfulCS wrote:I know it will be the very LAST "I am so sorry" call I ever receive!

I like that spirit. Stay strong and i am sure are getting your BFP this time (((hugs)))

AFM More cramping since AF is due. I've paid the clinic, unfortunately i am not on insurance that covers IVF so cash it was. I've also paid for my 1 month accomodation. Now i wait for the 28th when i stop taking the BCP and its the same day i have a 7 hour journey to Cape Town. I have to catch 2 flights each about 1hr 40 mins long. After the first one i have to wait for just under 4 hrs for the connecting flight. I am not looking forward to that  . This has to work, after all i am going through financially, mentally, emotionally and physically!?!?!?!?!?! Others are so lucky they never have to go through any of this to be a mom :(

Baby dust to everyone. Enjoy the rest of your week.. :)
