Well done, I am so pleased for you. I think I am waiting for the scan before I buy anything too. Dh wants to paint the nursery now and I won't even let him buy the paint!! I have this weird idea it might jinx things. The things we think....

Wishing away the time until Wednesday when I can see my babies on the screen again.

Hellooooooooooooo
Only me on for a quickie - oooo err - god it's hard work - shellie and Juliana you have all this to come and all you singletons you still won't know what's hit you but worth it.

Need one of you lot to give me a potted history of what happened but all seems fine which I am thrilled about and all progressing nicely and still worrying.

Buying things will not JINX anything you daft lot - how can buying an outfit possible do anything to your baby? Know what you mean but enjoy this bit and go and shop till you drop as it's great and you don't know when or if you will be in the position again. As time progresses you feel too knackered and afterwards what is sleep I ask? let alone shopping  Honestly I am sorry to say if something is going to happen it will regardless of how many buggies you have bought etc. I went mad shopping and really glad I did. Have some fun ladies!

As for kicking etc - don't worry we are all different and some of my friends felt nothing until 27 wks and that ws not first bubs either!

Juliana - thanks for email
As for me - well the thinnest I have ever been for 5 yrs - running around and breast feeding and expressing. They are 6wks old now and the nights can be hard but 2 days ago I decided to try Gina Ford's regime rigidly which is bloody hard I can tell you (had been picking and choosing!) and are a lot better. will explain more when more time? or anyone who is interested. I am bottle feeding Emily expressed and formula - she was bloody useless feeding on me and spent ages playing with it. Alice is still breast fed except 10pm bottle. So most of the time is spent doing that. Breast feeding means you eat 10 times as much as pg without the indegestion and don't put on weight. They are 8lb8 and 8lb4.5 at last count on Monday! I love them to pieces and can't wait for you lot - nobody seems to have asked the sex so I will have to start guessing.

Off to shower now
Love to all
Tracey, Emilly and Alice

Hi all,
Here we are - 5am, can't sleep so thought I log in (how sad is that?)...my sleeping patterns seem to be all over the place, and that's without the baby!
Coming up to 25 weeks and still can't quite believe we made it this far! So I'm with those who don't want to jinx things; we've bought some stuff, but no clothes at all (seems very delicate to do that, somehow). After our holiday mid-October we'll start all that (nursery, pram, etc) - by then we'll be well into the viability stage so fingers crossed!
Oh, we did ask the sex and are having a girl! Lovely thought, but boy would have been fine too. We've got a shortlist of names, but that's just for us, not shared with anyone, because we keep changing our minds...!
Hope everyone's doing well - any recommendations on how to beat insomnia? I seem to get tired early (ie going to bed at 10pm), but then wake up around 5am....?!
Happy weekend everyone - love,

Hi All,

Glad to see everyone doing so well. Unfortunately I am with Bina and would really appreciate some advice about insomnia. I sleep for about an hour then clock watching and can't get comfortable at all. I have tried a pillow under my bump but to no avail. I get up move around, go back to bed but still no joy. Just lately I have been feeling very weepy & I think this is because I am so tired. If I have a nap during the day I got no chance of sleeping that night, so if anyone got any ideas would be gratefully appreciated.

Apart from that feeling good and nothing really to report! Hope you all have a lovely weekend. :)

20 weeks today! :D :D

Sorry cant help about not sleeping have you tired a hot milkly drink or a relaxing bath??? I'm not too bad get up once or twice during teh night to go to teh loo and toss and turn a few times but not doing too bad I've been worse these last few nights have I've got a sore throat so thats waking me up,peanut keeps me awake after I've been to the loo as I must wake it when I go to the loo but I dont mind peanut keeping me awake
Went to the midwife on thursday and everything is fine I told her everyone at work keeps saying I must be having a big baby because i'm so big we measured my belly teh other night as its stayed at 39inches and when we measured on fri i was 40 and a half inches  any way teh midwife felt the baby and said it its perfect for teh dates and I look ok I'm not too worried as I would be worried if everyoen was saying I'm small for my dates as I'd worry teh baby wasnt growing.
I forgot to ask for my Mat b1 form so I'l have to phone her on monday and ask for it.
Well the in laws have just come so I'l have to go

HI there

Have you tried lavender for not sleeping - i find it really helps - either a few drops on your pillow or REALLY treat yourself and get Jo MAlones Lavendar bubble bath and body lotion - you'll sleep like a baby and smell delicious!! :D

Tracey - SOOOOOOOOOOOOO pleased to hear from you - right I'm off shopping - I do really have the fear about ti jinxing things but on the other hand what you say is utterly practical! As always!
Can't belive you are so skinny - I cant ever imagine ever being a normal shape again!!

I REALLY want to hear about Gina Ford - so whenever your free please tell us more! I read the book and it seems really strict but I must say I did quite like it. Just got the baby whispered and not that into it - its just really waffley......but lots of people say that works too. I guess they are both quite siilar in that routine is a bit of a must!

Take care

Hi everyone,
I sympathize very much with Bina and Christina, I am not sleeping either, for the last 2 months I have been waking every night at 4 or 5 am and staying awake for hours, but I catch up on sleep with a nap when I can during the day. I don't expect I will get more sleep when they finally arrive! By the way Caz I also like lavender very much, very soothing, except even that does not help at 4am when i wake up and start worrying about the babies coming safe and sound...that's just me!
Tracey, thanks for your mail :) I've just been reading Gina Ford and wondering if I could implement the routine. I am impressed with you saying it works! Will seriously think of trying but there is the small matter of the birth of those little ones first. I will ask DP to get that pineapple, feel quite sick today and would not mind them at all coming. I still have not reached your record I believe and am 'only' 37.2 weeks - but I never thought I would make it this far! I am not surr when they will induce but as you say, it may well be caesarian for my little girl as she is quite a bit smaller. The boy is so big when he hiccups he shakes my whole belly!
love to all,

Hi girls,
Thanks for the lavender advice - might try that; anything really to try and get me to sleep between 4am and 7am (when I have to get up). Unfortunately, do not have the luxurt of taking a nap during the day.

So, could I please admit my complete ignorance and confess that I have no idea what the Gina Ford book is, let along what it's about; presumably about bringing up the baby over the first few months? I've been busy reading up on bilingual education (me German, DH English) as there are lots of theories and practices to consider to make sure our girl will end up speaking both languages, and apparently you have to start from birth...! So what does Gina Ford recommend?
Sorry to have no clue about that!
Hope all is well otherwise - only one more week until we're on hols; can't wait!
Love,
bina

Hi,
only me again - just wondered: are we now officially in our THIRD Trimester? Or when does that start? I thought from week 25 it might be the third? HOw exciting is that! Seems only like yesterday that we were still paranoid about bleeding and cramps, not having any pg symtoms, etc....!
Anyway, just a thought!

Hi Bina,

Gina Ford wrote 'The new contented little baby book'. I have read it and it does sound great if not very strict to live by. She plans out your day around sleeping and feeding. She gives advice on how to get your baby/s into a routine so they will sleep through the night etc... Well worth having a read before the baby is born (no time after I'm sure).

Tracey I would love to hear more about how it has worked for you. Have you gone the full routine now. When I read it I read the twins routine at double speed because it seems as though it is very similar to the singleton only for 2. Are there enough hours in the day? Does that mean you are not making it out of the house with them yet? I m certainly going to try and express so DH can do the evening feed to give me a break. Glad to see you are doing so well though. I hope I do as well!

I was 20 weeks on Saturday, can you believe it, I can't... I can feel a movement in there but have not felt any flutterings yet. I do feel things but am not sure if that is the baby or just wind! Find it difficult/uncomfortable walking because it feels like the twins are bouncing in there and my stomach will end up round my knees in the next month! Had to buy those support knickers which help a little. They make Bridget Jones knickers look like a thong! I have smaller shorts. Anything for some comfort though.

Glad everyone is doing well. Back on wednesday with scan results.

Hi guys,

Just wanted to say thank you for the advice re: sleeping or lack of it in my case. Well I tried the lavender & got a good nights sleep. I had lavender body lotion & the oil on my pillow. Just to make the room relaxing I had a lavender candle burning for a while and I feel good after a sleep.

Hope that you are all keeping well.

Shellie - Wishing you the best of luck for your scan tomorrow. You will love it , it is amazing. I hope your little ones are doing well. Can't wait to hear how it all goes.

Things are fine here, can't believe how fast the time is going now.
Well take care everyone for now :D

HElloooooooooooo

So glad you are all ok - really missed you all - can't believe how much.

For you all GINA Ford - I am quite a relaxed person and decided early on not to take it literally as you can stress when it does not all work according to plan and I must say I have thrown it across the room on a couple of occasions and thought maybe it would be better on the dog

To begin with there is no such thing as routine as they need little or often but when I got out of hospital I at least tried to keep her feeds on track per the book - for one and then did the same for the other. This means trying wherever possible to feed early in the morning and pack as many in the day as possible so as to get them in a more day and night routine.
Does work with twins but you have less time - I was feeding both together until Emilly had to be bottle fed at 3 wks plus! Then two weeks ago I tried to structure the sleeps more and last week was structuring thema ccording to Gina. this was because they slept all day - or too much and then would not sleep at 7pm or at night Alice was a pain like me     It does work - I do not apply everything to the letter and found you can get stressed if it does not work to the book which is really not good for anyone - try the loose principles and slot the rest in place. I ignore the lack of cuddles thing - I mean they are not machines and I have waited long enough! The bit about their last night feed being quiet is good - we turn off most of the lights but do not do it in a darkened nursery like Gina but downstairs with the tv on quiet! Yes I do go out when I need to - better to try and plan round sleep times as they sleep as soon as in pram but sometimes not always practical!
Just start the day at 7am or 6.30 am and the rest will sort of naturally fall into place - it can be hard at times and they sometimes go through changes and the book goes out the window but hey ho! I express for Emily 3 times a day and not when Gina says.

Good lucka nd fire away with the questions.

Love to all and happy shopping
Tracey, Emily and Alice
