Thanks so much Mellie! That's really, really helpful & just what I was looking for :) Stories like yours give me hope!

And NY4thtry - I took Cetrotide just prior to the start of my cycle. According to my RE, doing so can help with FSH issues.

Funny that you should ask - I've been reading about how that protocol can work well with poor responders. Anyone have any first-hand experience?

Are they suppressing you when they do those cycles? I think you should jump straight into stims versus suppression. Maybe that will help.
The first two stimming attempts I was on Lupron for a couple weeks prior to my cycle, then on Follistim/Menopur (is that the "long Lupron" protocol?). This last ...

They did not do the round because your FSH was 11!
It was more of a suggestion than an outright refusal. They told me that their research suggests that the likelihood of a cycle's success decreases quite a bit once the FSH is above 10. Because I have three tries paid for by insurance, I want to do ...

Any hope for a poor responder?

I would love to hear any success stories from those of you out there who are poor responders. Quick history of my IVF saga:

IVF #1 was in 8/2007. I had 14 or so follicles, 8 eggs retrieved, 4 fertilized, but only 2 made it to transfer. I got a BFP but found out I had a missed miscarriage at 11 ...

I created a private blog (only I can see it) through Blogger just for this purpose. It obviously isn't as organized as a spreadsheet, but it lets me keep track of all sorts of info pretty easily.

I had a D&C last October with nearly the exact same experience - mild spotting for a day or two after the procedure, then a light AF-like bleeding several days later. I don't know why that happened, but it definitely wasn't a real AF. My actual period started about 5 weeks later.

I'm in the same boat - the 5 or 6 times my FSH has been tested before, it's been great. Today I just found out this cycle is a bust because it's 11.4.

Perhaps not coincidentally, this came after 2 irregular cycles (most recent - 41 days, the one before that - 22 days). Prior to that, I've had very ...

Missing ovary - anyone else had this?

Hi all,

I'm currently stimming for IVF#2 - just had my second ultrasound monitoring today. Everything's looking good on my right ovary, but the doctor couldn't see my left ovary. Same thing happened at my cycle day 2 check this month, and for my cycle day 2 check last month (I was on Lupron last ...

Oh my, Maineknitter, you don't want me to get started on my control issues :) The one thing that helps a little this time is knowing what to expect - I know how I react to the meds, when IVF appointments will/won't interfere with work, etc. Even though I'm still not in control, at least I feel more ...

Here we go...

AF started yesterday, I'm off to the clinic today for monitoring. I should start Lupron in a couple of weeks. My protocol will be Follestim and Menopur, same as last time. If all goes according to plan, my ER should be the last week of March.

As glad as I am to get this started, I ...

Hi Jes,

I know what you mean about the love/hate relationship with AF! IVF sure is a crazy ride :)

Seems like everyone in Maryland goes to Shady Grove, but I am going to the Johns Hopkins Fertility Center. I work at JHU and my insurance requires that I use them. I think they're pretty good; I ...

Hi Maineknitter!

Looks like you and I are on the exact same schedule! I'm waiting for AF to start this week, and will start Lupron later this month. I'm guessing my ER/ET will also be sometime the last week of March or first week of April.

I have also started acupuncture and am going for my 6th ...

Hi Angela,

I'm sorry to hear how discouraged you are right now - although I'm still at the relative start of my IVF journey, I definitely have many moments of feeling incredibly discouraged and frustrated. I'm gearing up for IVF #2 right now, knowing we'll only have 3 tries (I'm fortunate enough ...

Did you get a BFP on 2 consecutive IVF cycles?

I'll be starting IVF #2 in March. My first IVF in August 2007 was successful, but sadly ended in m/c at 11 weeks because of Trisomy 13 - one of those random genetic events that just happens sometimes. My husband and I have had bunches of tests for just about everything, and our diagnosis of ...
